Part of a period mansion house, No.5 occupies the north wing & is situated within its own private garden, surrounded by beautiful mature woodland & lawned areas. No.5 was once the servants quarters so is smaller proportionally than the principal mansion house. However it oozes old worldly charm & the large ground floor open-plan area with wood burner is ideal for family gatherings etc The space Carlung house comprises a master bedroom with en-suite, a further 3 double bedrooms, 1 family bathroom & a separate cloakroom WC. The open plan ground floor area has a large fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar and a dinning area that opens onto a large drawing room where there is a feature fireplace & wood burner which is ideal for large gatherings. Guest access The whole house is solely for the guests. The communal grounds are out of bounds however guests can use the large private garden with a large garden terrace Other things to note Directions - Head north on the A78 from Seamill. Go past the portencross road cross road towards largs on the A78. - The driveway is second on the left after the tudor sandstone house. (Do not use the entrance at this house as the road is unsuitable) - Continue down the long driveway between the fields and turn left at Ivy cottage - 5 Carlung house is the first entrance on the north side behind the black gates PARKING - Please park at no.5 and use the house driveway behind the gates for parking if you have more than 2 cars. - Please do not park in the main area Wood burner There is a wood burner in the lounge area with some complimentary logs and fire lighters & newspapers are in the large basket.. Carlung house • The house is a category B listed building and was built by Architect James Austen Laird for his uncle Robert Barr, a Glasgow whisky and shipping magnate No.5 The mansion was converted into 5 dwellings in the 1970’s. There are 4 flatted dwellings and no.5 consists of the whole of the north wing with its own private entrance WATER PRESSURE The water mains supply is adequate for each shower individually, however since the house is a period property both showers can’t be used at the same time and the water taps and appliances elsewhere in the house when a shower is in use may also affect the water flow. GENERAL • The house communal grounds are PRIVATE and out of bounds. • The large private garden at no.5 is for use only • There is a pathway to the beach through the grounds that can be used and is about a 20mins walk to the beach • No outdoor shoes upstairs • No smoking
