De Oude Smederij

Enjoy and relax in the Frisian countryside? This is possible with us in De Oude Smederij, which was formerly a forge but has been completely renovated into a comfortable vacation home. The Oude Smederij is located in an agricultural area on the outskirts of the village of Arum (on the Elfsteden route) and is centrally located between Harlingen (on the Wadden Sea with ferry services to Vlieland and Terschelling), Franeker (Planetarium and Frisian Museum), Bolsward (Broerekerk) and Makkum, located on the IJsselmeer with boulevard and beach. The space You enter the house through the backyard. This consists of a spacious, cozy living room with a TV, comfortable chairs and 2 sofas. A well-equipped kitchen with a Smeg induction cooktop with oven, refrigerator (without freezer compartment) and a dining table with 6 chairs. The utility room houses the washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. In the utility room, there is also the bathroom with walk-in shower and vanity table. The toilet is also in the utility room. On the upper floor, there are 2 bedrooms, and both bedrooms have 2 box-spring beds, each measuring 90x210 cm. The beds are made, and there are plenty of towels and kitchen towels available at De Oude Smederij. The house is equipped with an air-conditioning system. Guest access The vacation home has a private entrance, a private, fenced-in garden (behind the house) with various seating areas/terraces, a covered area where bicycles can be kept dry, and a private parking space for the car(s) in front of the house. Other things to note We rent out the house for a minimum of 3 nights and do not serve breakfast. The beds are made, and there are plenty of towels and kitchen towels available at De Oude Smederij. The house is equipped with an air conditioning system. In the village there is a Spar (with breakfast service) and a lunchroom/cafeteria. In Witmarsum (4 km), you will find a beautiful indoor garden center with a restaurant and also an outdoor swimming pool with all kinds of facilities. And at Pizzeria Pingjum (4 km), you can eat super delicious pizzas and also pick them up to go. Harlingen (8 km), Franeker (10 km), Bolsward (8 km), Makkum (12 km) and Leeuwarden (30 km) are easy to reach by car or by bike. You can enjoy walking and cycling along the Wadden Sea and watch the sun go down there in the evening. Or take a day trip by ferry to Vlieland or Terschelling (crossing from Harlingen) and Makkum with its beach and boulevard. Tourist tax: We are obliged to pay tourist tax to the municipality (2.20 euros per person per night from age 12). Please also pay this in cash during your stay.
