Features a kitchenette, shower, composting toilet, and shared fire pit. Enjoy hiking trails and a free cider flight at the cidery next door. Just minutes from I-66 and downtown Marshall, but truly a world away from stress. The space Set atop a detached garage, The Roost is part of Moreland Farm, a historic 1835 property rich with Civil War lore, moonshine legends, and stunning Blue Ridge views. While compact, the space is thoughtfully designed for rest and rejuvenation. It’s rustic, peaceful, and full of charm—with all the essentials you need for a short-term stay. Guests enjoy proximity to: - Cobbler Mountain Cidery (across the lane – free flight included!) - Dozens of wineries within 15–20 minutes - Appalachian Trail access - Skyline Drive, horse country, and charming small towns Guest access Guests have private access to The Roost and are welcome to explore the surrounding pastures, hiking trails, and mountain views on the farm. You’ll also have access to: - A shared fire pit (with our nearby cottage guests) - Scenic walking areas throughout the farm - Free parking near the unit - Cobbler Mountain Cellars (walkable) The apartment is not shared with anyone else. The main entrance is private, and the door will be unlocked for your arrival unless otherwise arranged. Other things to note The apartment uses a composting toilet, which is eco-friendly and easy to use. Instructions are provided. Best suited for 1–2 guests due to its compact size. Guests receive a complimentary cider flight at Cobbler Mountain Cellars—just mention your stay at The Roost at the bar. The Roost can be rented in combination with our nearby Moreland Farm Cottage for additional space. This is a working farm with cattle and barn cats—you’ll hear the occasional moo and maybe spot some friendly wildlife. Please note that stairs are required to access the apartment.
