Description

Enjoy stunning countryside from the West Wing of Durhamhill Coach House, with a blazing woodburner & great countryside views. The games building converts to a mini cinema with wine, woodburner & popcorn. Have an undisturbed stay, or walk a llama, collect eggs & have a motorbike sidecar trip. Explore beautiful Galloway with its hills, lochs & varied coastline as well as its castles, abundant wildlife and exciting outdoor activities. 1 ensuite double room, twin room and bunk room. The space Bathed in natural light and warmth from the sun, underfloor heating and woodburner, with great views, this house is designed for fun in any weather. Galloway countryside is like the Highlands in miniature but without the mass tourism. There are hills, lochs, rivers, woodland and a stunning coastline all to yourself. There's abundant wildlife, including red squirrels, otters, deer, badgers, hedgehogs and many birds of prey. There are several castles and gardens to visit. You can enjoy a host of outdoor activities with beautiful golf courses as well as the 7-stanes mountain bike tracks. Loch Ken Outdoor Activity Centre has some hilarious games or you can have a peaceful day fishing or canoeing/paddle-boarding. If it's raining, which occasionally happens here, there are many indoor places to see, including the Cocoa Bean Chocolate factory for a sugar-buzz for children, with a soft-play area, or you can stay warm and dry having a rowdy tournament in the separate games building, which has table tennis, pool, small air-hockey table. table football and chess. Alternatively, close the blinds in the games building to convert it into a cosy cinema and snuggle up on the sofas and bean bags for a good film, with home-popped popcorn and a blazing woodburner. On warm days, there's a giant stone horse-shoe seating area on the top lawn to relax and enjoy the view, an outdoor picnic table and a stone (charcoal fuelled) barbecue. We are on-hand, next door, to sort out any problems and can either leave you in peace to relax and unwind together or else we can advise on places to visit, fishing permits etc and everyone is welcome to help feed the llamas and take one for a walk, to collect eggs and to have a trip in the motorcycle sidecar (depends on the weather). Alan offers evening jamming sessions on the drums and guitar to anyone enthusiastic (regardless of ability). NB This house forms half of the main Coach House. It can comfortably sleep 6 people in the 3 bedrooms (ensuite double room and a bunk and twin room with a sliding partition between the twin and bunk room). This partition can be opened to set up 2 extra guest beds but the table only seats 6 comfortably and 2 extra bean bags would be required from the games room for the sitting area to seat an extra 2 people. Please enquire with owner before booking for more than 6 guests. We can supply a travel cot and high chair. If the East Wing of the Coach House is also booked (very unlikely in February/March) the games room/cinema would be shared with guests from there. NB We are having trouble with the pricing system here & the quoted price may be vastly over or under the correct one so please enquire with owner before booking. From late June to end of August we only take bookings for the whole Coach house (both sides - sleeps up to 16 people -Frid to Frid). At other times short or long break stays are welcome - an extra night or two is often given free - please contact owner to enquire. Hen/stag parties - please contact owner beforehand to discuss. Guest access The whole West Wing of the Coach House i.e. open plan kitchen/dining room, ensuite double bedroom, twin room, bunk room, upstairs bathroom, downstairs shower room. garden and games room. Other things to note Sorry no dogs (cats and hens in garden) and no 18th or 21st birthday parties.
