GiGi's Downtown House

You will be close to everything when staying at this centrally located downtown home. In the business region of Old Steubenville, it’s just a 5 minute drive to Franciscan University or Krogers grocery store, and a 5 minute stroll into Steubenville's Historic Fourth St, where you'll find Nutcracker Village, shops, restaurants and First Fridays! Pittsburgh is 40 minute drive. We have put a lot of love and attention into restoring this historic home to make it comfortable and cozy for our guests. The space A century ago these types of homes were termed “shotgun houses”, typically built long and narrow, two stories tall with each room lining up behind the next. A long-since forgotten design, but nostalgic. This home has the feel of a stately 19th century ship with original wood paneled walls, a beautiful glass door enclosed dining room, a warm and cozy living room with original french pane windows. A spacious den and sitting room provides access to the upstairs bedrooms by way of an open wooden staircase featuring a lighted finial. The upstairs master bedroom boasts a panoramic view of old downtown Steubenville with views of old St. Peter’s church, the old Fort Steuben Hotel, and the Ohio River bluffs. The original Lane furniture bedroom set still adorns the bedroom and an old fireplace mantle accents the space as it has from its beginning. Elegant features such as antique oriental rug and lithograph art are tasteful accents true to its style. Two additional bedrooms complete the sleeping accommodations with an over-sized back bedroom opening to a private balcony with comfortable seating. A perfect space for relaxing with a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. The bathroom is a complete new construction with all new fixtures including a walk-in shower with sliding glass door. The original 1950’s designed kitchen provides ample space for cooking as well as gathering with friends and family which opens into the sitting room and looks across the dining room and into the far living room at the opposite end of the home. Guest access All main level and upstairs level spaces and rooms and porch deck are available to guests with the exception of a storage space in the kitchen where cleaning supplies and service equipment is kept. The basement is currently not open to guests as the ceilings are too low for practical use it is not set up for hosting guests. Other things to note There is a private garage with controlled electronic access for guests. Security cameras are discretely mounted on the outside premises for your safety and assurance that you are being taken great care of.
