Description

Explore the beautiful South Downs from this peaceful and centrally-located eco-home. The space You're welcome to my relaxed contemporary styled home in a peaceful corner of Steyning. The house is carbon neutral and I have a nature-friendly approach with beds of wild flowers. I have a locked garage for bike storage, and off road parking for up to two cars. I offer you a double room and your own shower room, and access to the kitchen and open plan downstairs area. Breakfast is a good array of cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit and toast or croissants, and I can cater for vegan and vegetarian with notice. The locality You can walk to the historic high street in ten minutes, (don't miss the Norman Church) where you'll find bijou shops and lunch places, three pubs, one serving evening food, a couple of small restaurants and two lovely wine bars. It's half an hour to Pulborough Brooks RSPB reserve and twenty minutes to Knepp Rewilding (where you can see storks and wild roaming animals as well as dine in style). There is a rich biodiversity on accessible Wiston Estate land adjoining Steyning, with 100 species of birds, rare butterflies and Downland plants on the lower slopes. Shoreham-by-Sea, a working port and estuary is 5 miles away by road or Downslink path, and there is a good selection of cafes and eateries. On foot or bike? The house is easily accessible from the South Downs Way, the Downslink path (which stretches from Guildford to Shoreham following the old railway line), and the Monarch's Way, and once here there are lots of local walks, for example onto the Steyning Horseshoe and beyond, to Findon and Chanctonbury, and along the river Adur to Bramber and the town of Henfield, if you prefer less hilly walking. Public transport Busses go to Shoreham, Henfield, Worthing and Brighton & Hove and trains go from Shoreham to Brighton, Horsham, London, Gatwick and Chichester, all with connections and plenty of shops to peruse. By car It's approximately, on a clear run, ten minutes from Shoreham and the A27 junction for Brighton (35 minutes) and Goodwood (1 hour) and the M23 for Gatwick (40 minutes) and the M25 Junction 9 (1 hour) for Heathrow (1h 15). There is electric car charging in Goring Road, a two minute walk. Guest access Guests have their own bedroom and separate shower room, and may use the open plan area downstairs, respecting that it is also my space. During your stay I will respond promptly to messages during your stay, if you have any questions or issues.
