This small & intimate retreat offers the perfect base for exploring Dartmoor and Devon's diverse landscapes. Fantastic walking & pubs on your doorstep. The space Bloomfield Cottage is the self-contained annex to our Grade II listed “Silverlake” House, which dates from the late 1700s and was the former residence of William Finch, proprietor of the neighbouring Finch Foundry, now run by the National Trust. We are situated down a private gated drive with parking to the front of the cottage and a small grassy area for guests, perfect for relaxing or enjoying an evening drink. Our small cottage is located within the Dartmoor National Park, with superb walking up on to the Moor straight from the door. There you can wander through ancient woods, explore beautiful river valleys and immerse yourself in breath-taking moorland scenery. Our corner of Dartmoor offers access to Neolithic Tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses. History enthusiasts will love nearby Castle Drogo, a stunning National Trust property nestled in the Teign Valley. Sticklepath boasts two local pubs, including the very popular Taw’s Inn, together with a village shop, all only 100m away and with two further excellent pubs a short walk away in the neighbouring village of South Zeal. Okehampton, which has numerous restaurants and shops including a Waitrose, Lidl & Co-op supermarket is 3 miles away and Exeter, with its magnificent cathedral and countless other attractions is 20 miles away. With both North and South Devon coastlines easily accessible, you can enjoy stunning sea views and coastal adventures within a 50 minute drive. Our Dartmoor cottage offers the ideal countryside escape for those seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventurous base for hiking, cycling or exploring. Amenities: Bloomfield Cottage is a lovely character cottage. The accommodation is over two floors and can sleep a maximum of four. Two in the upstairs bedroom & two on the sofa bed in the living room. No smoking. Please note that our small dog resides on the property. You are welcome to bring your own small / medium sized canine companion with you. Ground Floor: Living room with Smart TV, Everhot Electric Heater, Sofa Bed (4ft 4in), dining table & four chairs. Well equipped kitchen with Electric Hob & Oven, Microwave, Fridge/Freezer, Nespresso Coffee Machine, Toaster. Please note that ceiling is quite low in the kitchen (circa 6ft headroom). First Floor: Open plan bedroom with Double Bed (4ft 6in) Bathroom: Bath with over Electric Shower. Please note that the bathroom is accessed off the upstairs bedroom landing area (open plan to the bedroom). Electricity, bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi included. Travel cot & highchair available on request. Private off-road parking and secure bike storage. Dedicated lawned garden area with garden furniture. Your host, Annabel, is a qualified yoga teacher. Mats are available & outdoor yoga sessions can be arranged, weather permitting. Guest access Our lovely cottage is for your sole use, together with off-road parking to the front & a small green area perfect for an aperitivo, after a day on the moors. Bikes can be stored and wet clothing hung undercover in our garage. Other things to note Please note that we only accept small to small-medium sized dogs. The cottage really isn't set up for a larger sized dog.
