Large 15th-century family house

We offer for rent our 15th century family home. The 5 ha property consists of a park with swimming pool, meadow and wood, in a quiet hamlet. At the end of the park is an early 11th century Priory formerly attached to the Cluny order with a ruined church whose capitals are classified as historical monuments. The property is located between Angoulême (25 min) and Limoge (45 min) in a typical Charentais countryside composed of bocage and forest. The space The house consists of a large living/dining room, kitchen on the ground floor, and a separate bathroom. Going up to the first floor via the stone staircase, you will find 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one with a bathtub (bathroom not renovated), each equipped with a toilet. Bedroom 1: large master bedroom (60 m² or 646 sq. ft.) with four-poster bed (180), en-suite bathroom (shower) and toilet, Bedroom 2: small bedroom with double bed (140 cm) and bathroom (bathtub) and toilet. On the same level, the office/library is accessible to all and will be the perfect place to read or listen to music in peace. This room has a 160 cm sofa bed and can therefore accommodate 2 additional people. As you go up to the second floor, you will find: Bedroom 3: central walk-through bedroom with 2 single 90 cm beds. Bedroom 4: bedroom with a 140 cm double bed and an ensuite bathroom (shower) and toilet. Bedroom 5: bedroom with 4 single beds and a bathroom with shower (without toilet). The functional kitchen was completely renovated in 2024. It is equipped with an induction cooktop, oven, and microwave. Chefs will find all the necessary utensils to prepare good little dishes. In a building opposite the house, you will find a large refrigerator and a large freezer in the first room called the "bread oven." The washing machine is in a technical room next to the bread oven (no dryer). Linens can be hung on the clotheslines behind the barn. Guest access To get to Le Chatelars Nearest train station: Angoulême or Limoges (then bus to Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieur or car rental). To access the property: Gate with padlock. The entire house is accessible except for a private area on the first floor. Unfortunately, the house is not accessible to people with reduced mobility (wheelchair). Other things to note - Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure is the nearest village (7 km) with all amenities (Intermarché, bakery, gas station, delicatessen, pharmacy, police station, garages, etc.) -Fresh bread in Cherves-Chatelars 3 km away - Nearest train station: Angoulême, 2.5 hours from Paris and 25 minutes from the house. A bus runs between Angoulême and Chasseneuil-sur-Bonnieure. Surrounding activities within a 20-25 km radius: - visits to castles (including that of La Rochefoucauld), - Roman baths of Chassenon, - tree climbing, -lake with water activities, pony club, etc. - 2 free tennis lessons in the village of Cherves-Chatelars (3 km) - hiking or cycling. - The Grotte aux Fées is a 20-minute walk away Amenities: - equipped kitchen with induction cooktop, oven and microwave, built-in refrigerator and dishwasher. - Indoor pool (10 x 5 mtr, 3.5 mtr deep) that is secure. - Gas plancha available under the covered terrace - outdoor garden furniture (tables, chairs, lounge chairs) - games: ping pong table, chessboard, carrom - Bicycles (use at your expense as they have not been serviced) - TV with DVD player - Internet (Wi-Fi) - Washing machine (no dryer) Swimming pool in operation from mid-June to the end of September. Sleeps 12 + 2 optional beds in the office (sofa bed) + 2 optional beds in the priory in summer (summer bedroom without bathroom).
