Description
Corner House is a romantic, cosy 18th-century cottage in the seaside village of Bardsea, on the edge of the stunning Lake District National Park. Brimming with original features such as an inglenook fireplace, exposed beams and limestone stairs, this delightful retreat also features a large, sunny private garden with breathtaking views over Morecambe Bay. Bardsea, one of Time Out's 20 prettiest seaside villages, has a beach 500 metres away and the Ship Inn, with excellent food and local beers. The space Built in around 1750, Corner House is full of character, including original limestone lintels over the windows and low front door (mind your head!), a bread oven within the inglenook fireplace and limestone stairs up to the back door. The layout downstairs is open plan, with a comfortable sitting room around the gas-fired log burner, a six foot dining table and well equipped kitchen. Upstairs, there are two double bedrooms and the bathroom. The larger room has a window seat and fireplace, a lovely spot to enjoy the evening sun. The snug second bedroom has a double bed and wardrobe. The large, sunny and private back garden is accessed across the path and up more limestone steps (again, take care) opposite the back door. The bench on the shed stoop is lovely place to enjoy a morning coffee. At the top of the garden, the patio has panormic views over Morecambe Bay to the South East and over Birkrigg Common to the West, a magical place to watch the sunset. There is patio furniture stored in the shed.
