Description

This perfect hideaway features a luxurious canopy bed, elegant fireplace & full kitchen all hidden in a red barn on 180 acres. Enjoy water supplied by our private spring, explore the creek, walk through trees & secluded fields, watch deer & turkeys, look for Moonshine Hollow where a "revenuer" was shot during prohibition, have coffee on the patio, roast marshmallows, visit the town square , browse quaint shops, take a photo w/ Minnie Pearl & try amazing local ice cream. We'd love to have you! The space This romantic hideaway is located about an hour west of Nashville at end of dirt road with little rocky cliffs and waterfalls on the right and a creek, trees, & fields on the left. You'll cross a wooden bridge onto the property, pass a spring-fed pond on the right and the old brown barn & the historic secrets of Moonshine Hollow at the bend (where your water is supplied from another spring), and then ascend an adventurous driveway. At the top of the hill you'll pass the brown wooden home of Bruce & Marcia on your left. You'll likely see them out and about the farm and working in their greenhouse and garden. Feel free to chat about whatever is on your heart and let them know if there's anything you need! On the right side of driveway, you'll find the red barn with a greenhouse, gardens, brown garden shed, firepit, wooden tractor shed, and fields and trees beyond. Park in front of the red barn, walk up the short stone path past the flower bed to the leftmost door, and enter with your own personalized code via the keypad. Welcome to the Red Barn Suite! Whether you're looking for the perfect honeymoon getaway, celebrating an anniversary, bringing a couple of kids out to enjoy playing on a farm, or working remotely, this is a perfect and peaceful setting. Inside, vaulted ceiling & lamplight creates a spacious yet cozy feel. To your right, it will be hard to resist flopping up onto the king-size canopy bed in the sleeping nook with luxurious down comforter, duvet, & plentiful pillows which will be calling your name. The nightstands have spacious drawers, games, and USB outlets. To your left, relax in the wondrously cozy living room area with queen size sleeper sofa, reading material, chess table, 65" OLED TV, and an elegant fireplace. Next to the fireplace have a chat with a very special palm tree, which I took as a tiny baby 4" tree as a gift to my grampa, which he managed to grow into a big healthy palm tree on his farm up in Michigan in the harsh winter climate! After he passed, the tree came to live with my mom and dad in TN since mom inherited the green thumb and I did not. If you speak plant language, the palm tree loves stories and conversation I hear. Cook gourmet meals, drink water piped in from our private spring, enjoy the Keureg coffee station, pop popcorn, or bake cookies with sprinkles and happiness in the spacious fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy meals at the dining table, or at the patio table, or out around the fire pit. Looking for a perfect quiet and inspiring place to work remotely or write that book that's been on your bucket list? You also have a perfect little work station with antique desk, super comfy office chair, and high speed internet. Enjoy showering in pure spring water in the walk in shower with seats, at least so long as mom did not forget to turn off the irrigation in the greenhouse, in which case, enjoy skinny dipping in the creek until the water tank refills ;) The creek by the way is a delightful place to sail toy rafts which can be built with bamboo that grows along the edge and in general a great place for splashing and playing and cooling off in the summer. Adjust the temperature as you like with the mini split heat/ac, the ceiling fan, and the fireplace. Settle in for a long stay as you also have a laundry room and a large closet to hang your clothes. Rejuvenate your soul with walks through 180 acres of fields and trees. Hunt for hidden springs (there are several on the property) and fill your water bottle with health and vigor. Gather black walnuts. Swing on vines. Climb trees and bounce on logs. Go on photo walks and see what you can capture. Just keep a lookout during hunting season, as there is a (very careful and conscientious) hunter who leases hunting rights. If you see his truck, feel free to say hi. This farm is also the historic site of Moonshine Hollow. Go on a scavenger hunt and see if you can find tanks, jars, and other historic artifacts of the Moonshine operation! The old man who lived in the only other house on the road told stories of a "revenuer" who was shot on this very road whilst trying to shut down the Moonshine Hollow activities during prohibition. The spring used for the Moonshine operation supplies the water we now drink. Or if you're craving endorphins from manual labor or a bit of dirt under your fingernails, have a child who needs a chore, or just are feeling a need to catch up on good deeds, ask mom (a former one-room schoolhouse teacher) or dad (city boy turned farmer) if they have any projects going on that they need help with! If you venture into town, you'll find the old courthouse in the middle of the old town square. Take a picture with Minnie Pearl on the bench, enjoy browsing local shops, and check out The Local Place for some amazing ice cream flavors designed by the owner who has extensive ice cream family history and processes from the Ice Cream School in Italy. Guest access Guests are welcome to explore the farm with the following exceptions: During hunting seasons, woods and fields are used by hunters. The brown house (Bruce & Marcia's residence) is excluded from this listing.
