Family Room - The Elephant Suite at Gaia Soul
Gaia Soul
Description
The Elephant Suite at Gaia Soul sleeps up to six beneath languid ceiling fans and salty ocean air, with a loft space that kids usually claim first. Set in a fishing village of near Hiriketiya, it’s made for barefoot mornings, post-surf naps, rooftop sundowners, and evenings that drift into shared dinners and long conversations. A place where days blur together in a blaze of tropical sunsets. The space Gaia Soul Guesthouse Gaia Soul is a family-run guesthouse in the fishing village of Kaluketiya on Sri Lanka’s south coast. A place where surfboards dry in the sun, skate sessions roll into sunset conversations, and the ocean is close enough to hear from bed at night. We’re tucked away from the busier tourist towns, but close enough to Hiriketiya for cafés, markets, and day trips. Life here moves slower. Barefoot. Salt-crusted. Community-driven. The Main House Our four double rooms sit above an open communal space designed for easy living and long conversations. Each room has an open-air bathroom, a foldaway balcony bar, hammock, workspace, and thoughtful built-in storage. You’ll wake up to sea breeze, palms swaying, and the occasional soundtrack of fishermen heading out before sunrise. Downstairs is a shared kitchen, dining and lounge area, hammocks, and the plunge pool waiting after a surf or skate. The Family Rooms Next door are two spacious family rooms built for groups, families, and slow mornings after long beach days. Each room has multiple queen beds, open-air bathrooms, a reading nook with tea and coffee, workspace, and outdoor chill areas surrounded by tropical plants and ocean air. The Yoga Shala + Rooftop Upstairs you’ll find our open-air yoga shala, small gym, massage area, and rooftop lounge overlooking the Indian Ocean. It’s where people stretch, train, read, work remotely, drink juices at golden hour, or simply stare at the sea while pretending to answer emails. The Skatepark Right in the middle of it all is our little concrete playground: the halfpipe and skate area. Some guests come for surf. Some for yoga. Some accidentally learn to drop in after two coconuts and encouragement from strangers who become friends surprisingly fast. Gaia Soul isn’t a polished resort bubble. It’s a living, breathing space shaped by the village around it. Fishermen next door. Kids playing cricket nearby. Jungle sunsets, salty skin, shared meals, film nights, surf trips, yoga mornings, and the occasional gecko supervising from the ceiling fan. A little rough around the edges in the best possible way.
