Charming, cosy floating getaway

Get cozy and settle into this rustic space. The perfect weekend getaway for rural walks, pubs and relaxing on deck. 42’ cruiser stern narrowboat. Available only as static accommodation - not to cruise. Not suitable for children. Please note: the boat is undergoing a repaint so may be at a certain stage of outside decoration until finished The space The generous back deck is a perfect place to enjoy relaxing with waterside views, for your evening meal or morning coffee. From here, doors lead into the living area via 2 steps down, where there is seating and a small table, a multifuel stove and large windows to enjoy the view. There is a CD player and a USB charging point by the door. Please note there is no 240v power on board so laptops or tablets will need a USB charging cable. Other appliances such as hairdryers or straighteners are not compatible with the 12v system. The small but functional kitchen contains a 2-ring gas hob, grill and oven. There is also a fridge freezer. Instant hot water is provided by gas boiler and the stainless steel sink and draining board lies below another large window, to make washing up more fun! The bathroom provides corner sink and mirror, shower and chemical toilet. A small corridor, in which there is shelving and an open cupboard for clothes etc. leads into the bedroom. This comprises a small double bed and bedside table, large windows and a bookshelf full of books you are welcome to read during your stay. If you get so engrossed in your book that you cannot bear to leave it behind, please take it but leave a small donation or another replacement book. The back door is actually the front of the boat, and is only to be used in case of emergency. It leads to a storage area and access to the outside by unhooking the canopy. Guest access The whole boat is yours to enjoy, except the storage area at the front, which is also a fire exit. Other things to note This unique boat residence has its limitations, mainly with regards to power. If you are into gaming or watching TV you may find this is not the accommodation for you. It’s really a chance to get away from the appliances of the modern world and enter a slower pace of life. The 12v power is provided by a solar panel and 2 batteries, and this should provide enough power to run the lights, fridge and water pump aswell as charging devices. Please note that there will be more power available for charging during daylight hours, and the battery may run a little lower at night. Switch off lights in other rooms when not being used, and utilise the fairy lights when possible. Also, the water tank only holds a certain amount of water, so showering twice a day is also not recommended. There should be enough for one shower per person per day and the usual amount of washing up. The shower is very small and functional and not suited to long, relaxing showers I’m afraid. This is due to the nature of the space available. It may present a challenge to those who are blessed with being tall! The bathroom sink is also very small, and you may find it easier to wash and brush teeth in the kitchen sink. There is a small drinking water tap at the kitchen sink providing filtered water, although the cold tap is also drinkable. The fridge may be noisy at night so feel free to turn it off overnight at the switch in the cupboard to the left. This will also conserve power.
