Canyon House at Sawmill Mountain
Canyon House at Sawmill Mountain
Description
Relax, recharge with the whole family at this peaceful, lovely, very well-appointed oasis 3 miles from the Ghost Town that looks out over BBNP. Home is complete with a full-sized fridge, stocked kitchen, TVs, comfy indoor and outdoor spaces, Starlink, workspace, and a huge family dining table for meals and games. The house is off-grid, with rainwater collection and solar power. Stargazing in the International Dark Sky region is stellar, pun intended. Sunrises over the Christmas mountains. The space The Canyon House is unique in that it is purposefully designed to be comfortable and enjoyable on its own, not just a cool home base to stay between outdoor adventures. Our home away from home has two bedrooms and a beautiful bathroom in the main house, as well as a separate detached guest room, we call the cowgirl casita and bathroom with an outdoor shower. The kitchen can handle family cooking with a full fridge, propane oven/range and pots and pans. We have a coffee bar with a Keurig, and a French press. Coffee is provided along with creamers and sweeteners. There is a large dining table, living area, and TVs in the main room and two bedrooms. The outdoor living space faces the national park, where you can see Emory Peak, The Window, the Chisos, and even one of the Mule Ears. It has comfy seating, a fire pit, and a propane grill. Kick back in one of the loungers to gaze at the stars. The home is 3 miles from Ghost Town on a gravel road, so a high-clearance vehicle is a good idea. From the property, once you hit the paved road, the National Park entrance is only 10 miles away. This is an off-grid abode with rainwater collection and runs on solar with a backup generator. While it has all the comforts of a traditional home, it is important to respect the water and energy guidelines. Guest access Guests are welcome to use the home, cowgirl casita, exterior restroom, outdoor shower, and park between the posts or up between the structures. Just don't block the road as we have neighbors or venture past the private property sign, please. Feel free to walk around the property, but be mindful of the stingy, bitey, scratchy elements to be found in the desert. Other things to note This property is beautiful and comfortable with stunning views and a very very peaceful environment. It is located in an area where there are no other rentals, and we like to be respectful of our neighbors when it comes to driving the road slowly and maintaining the amazing quiet of the desert. This is not a party pad but a wonderful place to enjoy the incredible views of the park and surrounding terrain, the night sky, astonishing quiet and brilliant sunrises.
