MacJack: Luxury Cottage on Jack Lake near Apsley, Ontario The space Enjoy luxury waterfront cottaging in the Peterborough Game Preserve! Lots of space to spread out in this 4,400 sq. ft. central air-conditioned lake house with 5 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms. Comfortably sleeps 12 - great for two families! Located 1 hour north of Peterborough, on a 1.3 acre private lot, with a clean, 260 ft., weed-free shoreline that’s excellent for swimming. Large 20’ x 20’ floating dock, with swim ladder, for relaxing on the water, plus there is a pedal boat, canoe, and kayak included for active enjoyment (guests are advised to bring their own life jackets). There are two marinas on Jack Lake which provide motor boat and personal watercraft rentals (reservations are recommended). Jack Lake offers anglers Bass, Muskellunge, Walleye, Perch, and more. The property has southwest exposure for sun-lovers and many lounging areas for those people who prefer the shade - especially the 300 sq.ft. screened-in porch. Guests can use the 7-person hot tub, sauna, and outdoor shower. Take a siesta in the hammock by the water, or the ‘Napping Bunkie’, our peaceful and quiet bunkie in the forest. There is a campfire pit located at the waterfront, as well as a propane fire table on the patio. Plenty of recreational fun for everyone with billiards, badminton, croquet, frisbee, playing cards, and numerous board games included. Inside the lake house, the main rooms offer large picture windows, a wood-burning, floor-to-ceiling fireplace, along with 21-ft cathedral ceilings! The kitchen comes equipped with several modern conveniences, such as gas stove/oven, dishwasher, microwave, dual-zone wine fridge, extra sink in the island, and food pantry with pull-out shelving. You can choose either gas or charcoal for grilling your food on the deck barbecue. The five bedrooms are spacious, with ample storage for your belongings. Enjoy a private ensuite bathroom, complete with 6-foot soaker tub and large shower, off the principal bedroom. There is a main-floor laundry room, with washer & dryer available. The lower walk-out level has two bedrooms, a comfortable tv room with a cozy gas fireplace, a full-size pool table, game table area, desk/workspace (if you must!), and a 3-piece bathroom. Included in the lake house rental are towels, bed linens, and extra pillows to help make your stay ultra comfortable. Kids can even hunt for the hidden secret play room somewhere in the cottage! Unlimited high-speed Wifi internet, Bell Expressvue satellite TV, Netflix, and a media player with more than 100 movies and tv shows to watch. Ample parking for 4 vehicles. Smoking outside only. House-trained dogs are welcome, but they must be kept on a leash while outside. Automatic backup generator keeps the main electrical appliances running in case of a power outage. Cleaning service included (but renters are expected to leave the cottage neat and tidy). Please note that renters are responsible for taking all leftover food and garbage to the garbage/recycling dump (located on Anstruther Rd) as there is no municipal garbage pickup available at the property. Only weekly bookings accepted during the summer season. September-June: off-season rates are $1000/night, minimum 2 nights. If it’s a long weekend, then there is a minimum booking of 3 nights. Guest access All rooms, with the following exceptions: lower-level storage room, and the walk- in closet in the principal bedroom. Other things to note There is a daytime campfire ban during the summer months in this municipality. Burning is only permitted between 6 pm-8am. Guests need to ensure that any and all campfires are completely extinguished! There is also a noise bylaw from 11:00pm-7:00am. Please respect the neighbours and keep the noise level reasonable at all times…remember that sound travels over water!
