All guests must have read our Airbnb rules and follow them.*** The booking guest must be 21 years of age or older. We ARE NOT ABE TO HOST PETS. Our Great White Pyrenees dog who guards our range free chickens will not tolerate other canines on the property as former guests allowed their dogs to chase the chickens and she now sees every visiting dog, even those on leashes as a threat to "her" hens. Our large white, fluffy Great White Pyreneese, Mira, is one of a family of dogs who are bred to use on farms to guard livestock. Many farms here with sheep, goats or birds have one or two. They are working livestock guard dogs. Her assignment is to protect the range free chickens here at our little ranch. In the evening, our range free chickens come into to a secure area to roost at sunset. Chickens can’t see after dark and come to sleep in their coyote and fox proof night time home. That is also the time of day that these predators come out. We have a robust pack of coyotes that circle the ranch during the night hours. You can usually hear them howling. When the dog has been inside instead of out at her post coyotes have snatched and carried off as many as four chickens in one evening. We have never lost one when she is on patrol. She stays out until the chickens are safefully inside and then rather than leave her out to guard through the night which would entail lots of barking, we bring her inside to sleep. She will bark loudly about a half hour before sunset until the chickens are safely secured then she is brought inside for the night. We hope you understand and appreciate her. She is very kind to humans! DO NOT CHASE, PICKUP or FEED chickens or any of the animals at our ranch. The chickens become very stressed out if they are chased and can stop laying eggs. You are visiting their home and you would not want a giant coming to your home and chasing you trying to catch and hold you. This is a working farm. you may observe the animals, but must not interfere with their daily lives. Please DO NOT leave wet towels on floors or rugs. Please hang them.
