Description
Enjoy this romantic spot surrounded by Outback nature. If you love nature, photography, farm life, animals, birdwatching, stargazing, artesian water soaks, walking, relaxing, rugged landscapes, stunning skies and sunsets, then Wellshot might be the place for you. It fronts our baby lake which is complete with jetty a great spot for morning coffee or afternoon drinks. Please check out the "other details to note" section, and discover what other experiences we may be able to offer you. The space Royston Station is about 64km southwest of Longreach on the main highway heading southwest out of town on the road to Jundah and Stonehenge and will even get you as far as Birdsville. It's a good bitumen road to our turn off, then just a short dirt road drive of 4k to your front gate. Wellshot Cottage is one of three in a small paddock adjacent to the main house paddock. Wellshot Cottage is quite secluded, being across the baby lake from Butler and Weldon Cottage. In a past life, Wellshot Cottage was a station hands living quarters and was joined to Weldon Cottage. It maintains some of its rustic feel with a few modern additions, flyscreens, flushing toilet etc. The front verandah is decked out with chairs for sitting out and letting the world go by. Just through the front door on the left is the kitchen /dining room area. Further in there is the toilet area which also contains a built in shelved cupboard for storage. Looking to the right is the lounge room area. Through the right verandah door is the bedroom space which contains a comfy queen size bed. Wellshot Cottage is not air conditioned with a reverse cycle aircon but has a mobile air conditioning unit that you can fill with water and a ceiling fan. In the cooler months, this will be more than enough to keep you cool. Outside the back door is the unique outdoor eco shower complete with chair and fairy lights. It is housed inside the corrugated iron water tank. The water is heated by lighting a fire under the "donkey" at the back of the shower. This could also double as a fire place to sit around in the evening. The baby lake as we like to call it is a hop, step and jump from your verandah, and the jetty is the perfect place to sit in the morning or afternoon and watch the birds do their thing under a vast changing sky. There is a little building between the other two cottages on the other side of the lake that house a larger fridge/freezer, washing machine, big sink etc for your convenience. It also stores equipment for use on the lake. This building and amenities in them is a shared space with guests in other cottages. A clothes line is located at the back of Butler cottage. Guest access The cottage space is completely yours. The little store room building with washing machine, pool noodles, etc etc, is there for your use too. We ask that you stay within the cottage precinct for your own safety and our peace of mind as this is a fully functional working property. Any gates that you come through that are closed, we ask you to close them behind you. otherwise you may have some goats, cows or roos coming to visit you on your front verandah. We would love to show you around if our time and property activities allow, so just let us know if that is something you would like to do.
