Description

Walk to everything in the historic waterfront district, then retreat to your quiet and comfortable home base at Harris Hatch Starfish. My wife Shari and I are thrilled to be the new owners of the Harris Hatch, built in the 1840s and listed in the Canadian Registry of Historical Places. It's the perfect location for exploring this storybook town. We know you'll enjoy the 5-star comforts and location of Starfish and the enduring charm of St. Andrews-by-the-Sea. The space Enjoy quiet, privacy, and convenience one block off Water Street in historic Saint Andrews. The Harris Hatch Starfish Suite is one level and has a private entrance. (There's one step up from the parking area.) Parking is free. The suite is newly renovated with a cheerful beach theme. Its fresh and open floor plan offers a spacious bedroom with a king-sized bed, a living room with sofabed, a full kitchen, and a full bath. Wifi lets you stream movies or work remotely. Starfish sleeps up to 4 people and your dog is welcome. The Harris Hatch, our private residence, is one of the town’s most historic properties. Located just a block from restaurants, shops, and the seafront, our guest suites are quiet and private -- the perfect home base for exploring the beautiful town of Saint Andrews. Guest access Starfish guests can enjoy the deck, outdoor seating and dining areas, outdoor grill, and full yard. Other things to note St. Andrews-by-the-Sea was founded in 1783 and was Canada's first seaside resort town. It is a National Historic District, with more than 140 heritage buildings. Saint Andrews is known for its village charm and its place in Canadian history. Many of the town's original buildings, including the Harris Hatch, are listed under the Canadian Registry of Historical Places. Our home is also a noted building listed by the Saint Andrews Civic Trust. The Bay of Fundy has the highest vertical tides in the world, so Saint Andrews sees dramatic tides. Passamaquoddy Bay, which pulses to a tidal rhythm that may raise water levels 28 feet or more twice a day, surrounds the Saint Andrews peninsula. The cycle from low to high tide takes about 6.2 hours, and in that time up to 2¼ billion tons of water will swill into the bay. In the next 6.2 hours the water swirls out, uncovering 6 square miles of intertidal beach for beachcombing and exploring.
