The space Nestled in the Burgundy countryside, La Petite Ecluse is rich in history. It belonged to a couple of painters, Mrs. Hélène Farey and Mr. Roger Nivelt. Hélène Farey is renowned for her works in warm and bright colors, inspired by her many travels. She notably stayed in Algeria, Spain and Tunisia, and then resided in the small village of Saint-Vinnemer. Her works also reflect the landscapes and atmosphere of the Tonnerre region. Roger Nivelt, meanwhile, is known for his Orientalist paintings and illustrations. In the master bedroom, you will find postcards from his works, such as "Femme à la tenture, Beni Ounif" (1935). In the living room, you can admire a beautiful easel and the material that belonged to the artists. It is in their honor that we renovated the house, and hope to have preserved its soul. Guest access Guests check in autonomously with a lockbox, the code for which will be sent one day before check-in. CAUTION: stairs to access the accommodation and the mezzanine. Other things to note La Petite Ecluse is the perfect place to relax and discover the Tonnerre region: visit the Fosse Dionne (in Tonnerre, 10 km), the castles of Tanlay and Ancy-le-Franc, visit cellars and enjoy wine tastings. And for the more athletic: hiking (in the footsteps of the Cistercians, Tanlay and its castle), cycling along the canal, trail. Don't hesitate to contact us for more advice!
