Porto Ottiolu is a gem between Budoni and San Teodoro: a lively village with one of the best-equipped marinas in Sardinia. Here you will find a 500 m long white beach, soft dunes and a cobalt blue sea with a gentle seabed, perfect for families and children. The bay, known as Cala Ottiolu, offers easy access for the disabled, ample parking, kiosks and beach services with umbrella and deckchair rental. The coastline is a paradise for windsurfing, sport fishing, snorkeling and diving; the paths to Punta Li Turchi reveal secret coves such as the French beach. With over 400 berths sheltered from the winds, the port is the ideal starting point for boat trips: from the Protected Marine Area of Tavolara – Capo Coda Cavallo to the archipelago of La Maddalena and the Gulf of Orosei. How to get to Porto Ottiolu: 1️⃣ By car From the Olbia Costa Smeralda arrivals terminal, follow the signs for "SS 131 DCN / Nuoro-Cagliari". Take the SS 131 DCN and stay on the road for 28 km. Take the Budoni Nord – Agrustos / Porto Ottiolu exit. At the roundabout, turn left onto SP 1, then follow the signs "Porto Ottiolu/Marina" for about 3 km: in 5 minutes you are at the port square. Tip: In high season, leave early (before 10:00 a.m.) or after 6:00 p.m. to avoid queues on the first 15 km of highway. 2️⃣ By ARST bus Ticket: "single ride" Olbia-Budoni area, available on the ARST app or at tobacconists/stations (€2.20). Olbia stop Via Vicenza 40: in front of the MD supermarket; if you arrive by train from Cagliari or Sassari, get off at the FS station and walk 600 m south. Summer 2025 timetable (Mon-Sat): 07:10 • 14:22 • 16:16 • 17:53, arrival in Ottiolu ~48 min later. On Sundays you need to change in San Teodoro (line 514). From the Ottiolu terminal to the "Casetta di Gioia" it is a 400 m walk. 3️⃣ Taxi or transfer Official Olbia taxi (2025 rate): €2.80 departure + €1.80/km → ~€85 daytime, 15% more after 10:00 p.m. Private transfer booked online: fixed rate €70 (sedan 1-3 pax) / €100 (minivan 4-8 pax) with child seat included and late flight assistance. Book 24 hours in advance to have the driver in the arrivals hall with a name sign. 4️⃣ Other options Car-sharing (Enjoy, Lyna) not yet present in Olbia in 2025. Scooter/e-bike rental: pick-up point at the airport's multi-storey car park; 40-45 min via the scenic SS 125, recommended only for experienced drivers due to the mistral wind. To recap: the simplest solution is the car (30 min), the ARST bus is cheap but with limited hours, while a booked transfer offers total comfort at a fixed price. Whatever means you choose, in less than an hour from takeoff/berthing you will already be enjoying the cobalt blue of Porto Ottiolu!
