Above the scenic Varenne river valley, this 300-year-old stone cottage has spectacular views of the chateau above and the ancient Notre Dame church below. Complete with a private meadow garden, we are just a 5 minute walk into the medieval city of Domfront with its cafes, bars, restaurants and boulangeries. Rich with history, beautiful flowers and breathtaking views of the sweeping woodland valley, it is a timelessly beautiful landscape. The space The property has an open plan kitchen to the living room with stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom. Not suitable for young children as there are no stair gates. There is a working wood burning stove in the living room for the winter months. A patio/courtyard is directly at the back of the house accessed by the side gates or from the bedrooms with a table and chair set to enjoy outside dining. Further seating can be found in the pretty meadow garden with fruit trees, lavender, and amazing views up to the castle and down to the ancient church. The house is perfectly situated on a private quiet road away from traffic but close to all the cafes and restaurants with a free parking area 1 minute walk up the road on the Rue du Pave (next side road up from the house). Guest access The house is a 5 minute walk to the medieval part of town with all its facilities including cafes, restaurants , supermarkets, boulangeries and pharmacies. Parking is always available directly outside the property on the street for a small car or there is a free car park for residents a 1 minute walk up the street. Other things to note Steps away from the medieval town of Domfront, Le Joli Pre is a perfect setting from which to explore the secret alleyways and courtyards of this ancient city. From our back garden you can look up and see the castle, or walk to visit its ruins. This stunning, historical location is where Henry II had his last argument about Thomas Becket, Eleanor of Aquitaine gave birth to the daughter who was to be her name sake and William The Conqueror began his push to become King of England.
