Pia's Place is family-run holiday home located in a small, sheltered cove on beautiful Qamea Island. We'll pick you up from the airport in Taveuni and bring you across the water. The only way in or out is on the blue highway and your private, tranquil escape begins as soon as you step onshore. As well as spending your days unwinding and relaxing, you can swim and snorkel amongst coral reefs and fish only metres away, explore the coast by kayak, or walk to Namata Bay through a local plantation. The space Pia's Place features generous and inviting living spaces. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area is nice and breezy throughout the day. You can eat at the dining table or lounge on the couches. Better though is the large deck out front, perfect for dining, as well as relaxing, snoozing, drying towels and togs, or simply watching the local boats pass by. You'll spend a lot of time out here - we guarantee it! There is a second deck closer to the water, for more of the same, as well as sunbathing, if you are so inclined. There is a large master with its own ensuite off the living area, and two double bedrooms and a family bathroom at the other end of the house, where there is also the laundry. The kitchen is a fully stocked family kitchen, with everything you'll need if self-catering (e.g. crockery, cooking and other utensils, pots and pans, bowls, etc.). There is a large gas hob and oven and fridge/freezer. We've spent many glorious years here holidaying with family, so we've furnished it with everything we've needed to enjoy our time - and we now invite you to enjoy Pia's Place too. Other things to note AMENITIES AND MONEY There are some amenities on Taveuni, such as supermarkets, a pharmacy (at the hospital), hospital, and one ATM. It is strongly encouraged that you bring cash to cover your entire stay. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE We'll pick you up from and return you to the airport on Taveuni (at Matei). The following is charged for the return transfer: FJD$160 per adult (13 and over) FJD$90 for children (aged 12 and under) FJD$390 for a family of four FOOD AND DRINK All daily meals can be provided. We'll prepare, cook and clean up onsite for FJD$100 per day for 1-3 guests, or FJD$200 for 4-6 guests. Food is extra and we'll organise it to be ready for your arrival. You are also more than welcome to self-cater, and we can take you shopping in Matei on Taveuni before heading across to Qamea. The kitchen is fully stocked, complete with gas cooking and BBQ outside. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk, salt and pepper, and some bottled water is provided. There is tank water which can be drunk when its boiled or you should purchase water in Taveuni and buy enough to last you for the duration of your stay SWIMMING AND SNORKELING Please bring your own swimming and snorkeling gear, including reef shoes. There are four kayaks available for your use. OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES There are a number of activities that can be arranged for your stay, including village tours, excursions to the famous Bouma National Heritage Park and Bouma Falls on Taveuni, a guided tour of the Lavena Coastal Walk on Taveuni, and fishing and snorkeling trips. OTHER INFORMATION Solar power - Pia's Place is off the grid and primarily is solar powered. However, there is a back-up generator in case of unfavorable weather conditions. Quiet hours - While the cove is secluded, noise travels very easily on a still night, so we would expect noise to be kept to a minimum during the hours of 10pm and 6am. We don't want to disturb the birds, and the millions of stars you'll be enjoying. Fly screens - the house is screened throughout. Make sure you keep the screens closed, and you won't be bothered by mosquitos or flies. Laundry - there is a washing machine that you are welcome to use and plenty of sun for drying your clothes. Toiletries - we'll provide you with soap, shampoo and conditioner, dishwashing liquid, and laundry powder. You should bring the following with you: a good SPF sunscreen, mosquito repellent, and maybe some after sun lotion (in case you fall asleep while reading your book).
