Description
Maison des Vignes, named after the grapevines that grow over is terrace during summer, a detached 250 year old character cottage. The cottage has its own private entrance, parking and terrace and access to the pool and the beatuiful mature grounds which forms part of the grounds of Le Manoir du Bois Mignon, a stunning 18th century manor house located in the peaceful hamlet of La Nougarede, only 4km from the bastide port town of Ste Foy La Grande in the Dordogne. The space The owners of both Le Manoir and Maison de Vignes, British couple, Rob and Vanessa, have set out to create luxurious but authentic French accommodation for their guests in stunning and peaceful surroundings. The cottage overlooks the Dordogne river and backs onto the ‘Bois Mignon’ (literally meaning ‘pretty woods’) from which the manor takes its name while vineyards behind the property stretch as far as the eye can see. Maison des Vignes has been totally renovated over the last few years and has been recently decorated in 2020. Featuring a modern kitchen and bathrrom and a mix of antique and contemporary furnishings, the cottage is also full of beautiful and authentic period features including beamed ceilings, original terracotta tiled floors, window shutters, large working Perigordian fireplace and even an original stone wash basin which have all been retained. The spacious accommodation, arranged over one level for easy access, extends to 120 square metres and can sleep four to six people in two bedrooms. The heart of the cottage is its large open plan living/dining room. This is a charming, sociable room and a cool place away from the heat of the summer sun in which to relax and eat. With an antique dining table and chairs and two seating areas, one in front of the large fireplace and the other around the TV, DVD player and high-end B&W bluetooth speaker. Other entertainment includes a selection of DVDs, books, playing cards, classic board games, backgammon and chess sets. If you prefer to soak up the French summer sun, Maison de Vignes is surrounded by its own garden full of fruit trees including apple, pear, cherry, fig and walnut. Here you will find a large, shaded terrace adjacent to the cottage, covered in Summer by the property’s trademark grapevines, giving not only shade from the sun but also yielding masses of delicious table grapes for you to enjoy. On the terrace are both lounging and alfresco dining areas for up to six people and a large gas barbeque for outdoor cooking. For sun worshippers there are comfy sun loungers in the private garden and guests of Maison de Vignes also have unlimited use of Le Manoir’s stunning 6 x 12 metre swimming pool. The rest of the accommodation comprises of two tastefully and elegantly furnished bedrooms, one with its own entrance and each with King Size double beds and ample hanging and storage space. An additional single Z bed can be put into each bedroom by prior arrangement to increase sleeping capacity. There is also a separate, fully equipped, modern kitchen featuring large fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and all crockery, cutlery and other cooking utensils you will need for your stay at Vine Cottage. If you don’t fancy cooking, Rob and Vanessa host regular dinners and barbeques for guests as well as daytime snacks. These are always available to guests by prior arrangement and at extra cost. Maison de Vignes has a contemporary bathroom with bath and shower facilities, wash basin, hairdryer and heated towel rail. There is also a separate WC. Included in the price of your stay are premium bed linens, luxury bath, hand and pool towels, designer toiletries. All guest groups will receive a complimentary welcome hamper containing a few essentials and a bottle of easy drinking local Bergerac wine to get you started!
