We offer a tranquil oasis for relaxing in nature while enjoying the comforts of a sophisticated well-equipped home. The house, large pool, lawns, gardens, pergola, pool house, games room and weights room are where our guests socialise, play, swim, exercise, relax, drink, cook and eat. Next door is our farmstead (there are horses, goats, ducks and hens which lay delicious, fresh eggs for you), orchard and vegetable garden (where we grow in-season fruit and vegetables which you may also share) The space The view from the house and gardens is over the Parque Natural de los Alcornocales, the largest cork oak forest in Europe, a short walk away with stunning hikes and rides, a river and abundant wildlife, especially in spring and autumn when we are under the migration path for eagles, kites, harriers, hawks, bee-eaters, vultures, storks and many more. Walking from the house into town you come to bars, restaurants and shops. You can also walk to the railway station to catch the train which runs along the picturesque, 19th century track along the River Guadiaro north to visit Ronda or south to Algeciras on the Coast. Climb the hill and you reach Jimena de la Frontera, one of the pueblos blancos, dating back to Roman times with its Moorish castle, pretty cobble-stoned streets and friendly, affordable bars and restaurants. There is a lot to do without going far - you can drive to beaches and lively resorts such as Sotogrande on the Mediterranean Sea (25 mins away) or Tarifa on the Atlantic Ocean. A visit to the historic Rock of Gibraltar is only 40 minutes away. There are several national parks including prehistoric cave paintings within an hour’s drive. Preferring to stay at home, you can enjoy the house’s 6 double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, 5 of which can be set up by advance request with a super-king size bed or 2 single beds. There is another double bedroom downstairs which is currently a nursery/playroom. We have 1 cot, 2 travel cots and 2 highchairs for young guests. There is a large sitting-room and a study/TV room in the front of the house. The house has Wifi throughout. There is a back kitchen with an American fridge-freezer and full laundry facilities; the main kitchen has 2 electric ovens, a 5 ring gas hob, microwave oven and is equipped with blenders, juicers, etc. It sits 10 for breakfast. Next door is the big dining room with seats for 16. Outside 12 people can enjoy alfresco dining and may use the gas BBQ. The covered south-facing terrace is for relaxing; the pergola is for lounging in the sun or shade; the games room is for table tennis; the lawn is for croquet and badminton; the weights room is for exercise and the fenced saltwater pool (open from May till October) is for swimming lengths, floating on lilos or cooling off. There are also 2 changing rooms/showers beside the pool house. In the winter there are 2 fireplaces (firewood provided), a TV with English channels, and lots of quiet places to sit and read or play boardgames. We can help you arrange activities including yoga classes, horse rides, guided walks, an introduction to animal therapy and talks about permaculture from our property manager, Pablo, who lives onsite. He will also be on hand to help with any questions you may have. Transport – our nearest airport is Gibraltar (40 mins), but Malaga (1 hour 20 mins), Jerez (I hour 20 mins) and Seville (2 hours) are also possible airports. If flying in, we recommend you rent a car as public transport is difficult to access.
