It's insulated with sheeps wool and the interior is decorated with natural materials and paints from Edward Bulmer and Brouns & Co. The interior space has all the amenities of a comfortable, cosy retreat, with the Hobbit woodburner and electric towel rail providing heating for the hut across all four seasons of the year. Staying at The Rare Retreat is a special experience. Situated deep in the Shropshire countryside, on a patch of organic meadow land that's part of our 35.5 acre farm, find peace and quiet to switch off and to connect with nature. The hut is located just off our private no-through country lane, on the outskirts of the village of Ash Magna (with its award winning country pub 'The White Lion') and with the historic market towns of Whitchurch and Nantwich nearby, it is a few miles from the borders of both Cheshire and Wales. Within a couple of miles of the hut, there are two beautiful nature reserves, Melverley Meadows and Brown Moss and we have our own small lake in the field next to the hut, which attracts a host of wildlife. The shepherd's hut is a cosy space with a double bed with cotton sheets, wool duvet, pure wool blanket and both goose feather and wool pillows. The kitchen area comprises of a kettle, portable gas hob, kettle, fridge, mini Belfast sink, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery, along with an oak breakfast bar and stools. There is an ensuite shower room, with instant hot water, wash basin, heated towel rail and luxury eco-loo. Towels are provided. Outside, there is a rustic bench in front of the hut, along with a fire pit. At the rear of the hut is a bespoke outdoor kitchen, made in rural Monmouthshire by Firepits UK. It has a fire bowl with back boiler, hand pump and sink, along with a swing over grill, hanging cauldron and warming oven. Cast iron cookware is provided. Firewood, starters and matches are also supplied - extra provisions, should they be needed, are available at the property on request, at a price of £10 per bag. Guest access The area surrounding the hut, including the outdoor kitchen, is for guest use only - though there may be cows grazing close by at times (fenced in)! The key to The Rare Retreat is secured in a PIN protected keysafe. The PIN access code is included in the Welcome/Check-in message which is sent out prior to arrival. Guests may stop on the private lane to drop off luggage, then continue on to park in the yard 100m away from the hut. Please do not drive on the grass. Other things to note The Rare Retreat comes supplied with organic milk from The Rare Dairy, organic coffee, organic tea (loose leaf and teabags), organic sugar, biscuits, organic Pimhill oats and homemade cake.
