The space Hamblen House is a historic home that offers modern amenities with yesteryear charm, where original wood flooring, wainscoting and period moldings combine with updated features such as granite, stainless steel and modern color palettes, a flat screen tv with enhanced satellite services, wireless internet, hot tub and more. Built in 1895 and fully renovated in 2005, the two bedroom, two and a half bath main house is perfectly suited for four persons and the new and stylish, detached guest house (built in 2016) accommodates up to six more with two more bedrooms, a full bath, and a small but complete kitchen. This charming offering will be your home away from home. Acadia National Park's Seal Cove entrance is literally just down the street, as are other national park venues such as St. Saviour, Flying, Acadia, and Beech Hill mountains, the park's Echo Lake swimming area and the Seawall and Ship Harbor entrances to the park. It's conveniently located less than one mile from Southwest Harbor's bustling village and fine shopping and restaurants, and Causeway Club golf, too. Spend your day exploring the national park, one of the island's special villages, or venture beyond Mt. Desert Island's shores looking for whales or puffins. And then, wind down at the end of the day sitting with family and friends around the fire pit. MAIN HOUSE FIRST LEVEL: Hamblen House's wide front porch with seating and colorful, hanging flower baskets welcomes you. From the porch, access a small entry area with built-in bench seating, a coat closet, and a stylish half bath. From there the modern kitchen space has seating for 4 at the breakfast table, and generous space within the kitchen itself. The kitchen opens to the southern facing living room. It is light-filled, with details such as a unique coffered ceiling, inlaid wood floors and built-in bench seating. From the living room one may access the back yard to grill or sit around the fire pit. Adjacent to the kitchen find the large dining room and bar area, with seating for 8-10. SECOND LEVEL MAIN HOUSE: Upstairs there are two bedrooms. The master bedroom with queen sized bed sleeps two. There is an en suite bath with tub and steam shower, and a private balcony with seating which overlooks the backyard. The second bedroom has a cathedral ceiling and sleeps two more in single, twin-sized beds. These beds may be joined together to form a king. (Kindly request in advance if you would like this option.) This bedroom also has a private full bath with tub and shower, accessed both from inside this room or from the hallway. GUEST QUARTERS LAYOUT: A brick walkway leads you to Hamblen House's stylish guest quarters. The detached guest quarters are of post and beam construction yet feature modern styling cues. Two large bedrooms, each with a private entrance, share a small, fully-applianced kitchen and a full bath with tub and shower. One bedroom offers a queen bed, the other two full-size beds. Guest access You will have access to the main house (and the guest house for parties of 5 or more.) You are not allowed to use the garage.
