The Dales Nook

Welcome to our cosy, character-filled cottage, nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Our 17th century Grade II-listed home is a walkers haven, with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and limestone hills. The cottage boasts a large wood-burner, high quality furnishings and charming window seats, perfect for cosying up with a good book. It is the ideal retreat for couples, families and groups, looking for a peaceful retreat in the Yorkshire Dales. The space The cottage is set over two floors and has traditional features including oak beams, mullion windows and flagstone floors. Downstairs, there is a spacious living room with large log-burner, two sofas - one of which is a sofa-bed (bedding provided on request), wing-backed armchair and window-seat, as well as a well-stocked bookshelf, Smart TV and Superfast Broadband Wifi - perfect for those who need to work remotely during their stay. The kitchen is well-equipped, with range-master stove, dining table, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washer-dryer. Off the kitchen is a small patio garden, the perfect place to enjoy your coffee while soaking up the morning sun. We provide a welcome basket of coffee, tea, milk and other essentials. Upstairs, there are two bedrooms and a family bathroom (shower over bath). Both bedrooms are spacious with feather bedding, quality linen and stone fireplaces. The master bedroom features a king-sized double, while the second bedroom has twin beds (convertible to a super-king on request). Location The cottage is nestled in the heart of the peaceful and picturesque Yorkshire Dales hamlet of Langcliffe. Langcliffe is a paradise for those who enjoy the outdoors. Once you arrive at the cottage, many of the surrounding Dales can be explored on foot via clearly marked footpaths. We are perfectly located for walkers and fell-runners seeking to explore the Yorkshire Three Peaks, Pennine Way, Dales Way, Ribble Way etc. Keen cyclists are also spoilt for choice, with many epic routes available through the surrounding Dales right from the doorstep. The vibrant market town of Settle is located a 5 minute drive (or 15 minute amble away via a quiet laneway), where you have everything you need for your stay, from great cafes, pubs, restaurants, boutique shops and local supermarket, Booths. Guest access Guests have full access to the cottage. Other things to note Dogs are very welcome, we just ask that you keep them off the furniture and clean up any mucky paw-prints at the end of your stay. We may sometimes be able to accommodate an early check-in / later check-out, so please feel free to ask on booking. Please note, there is very minimal phone reception at the cottage, so wifi calling is the best option (you do get service just outside the front door though if needed!) We provide guests with a small amount of firewood, kindling and matches, although if you would like more during your stay you can buy logs from Booths. The bathroom in the property is located on the upper floor. The staircase is quite steep and narrow, meaning it may not be easily accessible for those with restricted mobility. Local Recommendations The Nettle (small plates restaurant), Rind (wood-fired pizza), Car & Kitchen (lovely shop & great coffee), Ye Old Naked Man (bakery), the Golden Lion (cosy pub), The Talbot (cheap pint), The Lister Arms (great roast in Malham), the Ruchee (local Indian), the Old Sawmill Café (in neighbouring Clapham). The Courtyard Dairy is nearby and was recently voted Cheesemonger of the year. It's a fantastic cheese shop serving up locally produced cheese, with pizzeria Rind located in the back. There is also an organic wine shop next door selling a great variety of natural wines. Slightly further afield is the beautiful village of Malham (of Harry Potter fame), accessed via a scenic 7-mile hike/drive from Langcliffe over lime-stone cliffs. Once there, you're spoiled for choice when it comes to cosy pubs - perfect for enjoying a pint by a roaring fire after a wet & wild amble through the Dales. The Yorkshire Three Peaks are a real must-do during your stay. For those struggling for time, Pen-y-ghent is our personal favourite and the most accessible from the cottage. For wider inspiration, have a flick through the local travel books in the cottage which provide a round-up of some of the best local rambles and rides. Other local attractions include the iconic Settle-Carlisle railway, White Scar Caves, Gaping Gill, Ingleton Waterfalls Trail and Stainforth Force.
