The two-bedroom apartment is situated over a shop in downtown Athenry, in a quiet shopping/residential area. Ideal base for Galway city with direct train a 5 minute walk away. The space The space The stairway opens on a cosy, plush reading nook with window and tub seat. This leads to the lounge which has a big and small sofa and a wall-mounted tv. The main bedroom is at the rear overlooking the garden. The single bedroom and kitchen/workspace overlook the street. The apartment has a full kitchen and bathroom with full length bath. Where you’ll be Neighbourhood highlights The neighbourhood is quiet and safe and mostly residential. The apartment is in the centre of this quiet town and close to supermarkets and restaurants. Street parking is available right outside. You can pay at the meter for two hours at a time. The meter takes cards, cash and contactless. It is recommended that guests use the car park (currently still free) beside the supermarket about 8 minutes walk away. Getting around Athenry’s historic buildings can all be visited on foot. The Heritage Centre which is situated on the same street as the apartment offer fun tours. The town has some cute shops and cafés. The closest city is Galway and is 19 minutes away (one stop) by train. The train station is a five minute walk from the flat. The same line will take you to Dublin in the opposite direction in about three hours (10 stops). Galway city has great history tours, shopping and the pubs offer excellent traditional music and Guinness. Still walkable is Salthill promenade and beach area. Slightly further away is the Burren, an area of great geographical interest. Also scenic towns like Westport, Leenane and Clifden. Boat trips are available from Galway to surrounding islands such as Inisbofin. Guest access You’ll have full access to the entire apartment including kitchen and laundry. Other things to note The apartment has a full kitchen (plus air fryer and coffee machine ) and you are a short walk from two big supermarkets. Athenry also has great dining out options: Breakfast and lunch: The Barracks and Town Cafe for delicious, healthy food. Offers non-meat & free-from options. Good coffee and cake, too. The Nook offers amazing coffee, cake and sweet/savoury crepes. New Park Hotel and Dan’s Bar offer good European food all day. Dinner: Stone House Pizza offers oven-fired, sourdough bases with a super range of toppings. Has good Mexican options like Burrito Bowl too. Murphy’s Bar, tucked in behind the town arch serves good European food like steak and fries.
