It is located in the grounds of Applegarth House the original 17th century Manse (Vicarage) which stands next to the pretty Applegarth Church. Applegarth is the seat of the Clan Jardine and has the 12th century Motte - a scheduled monument - in the garden where the original Jardine Fortification once stood. King Edward 1 is said to have stayed as he headed to besiege Caerlaverock Castle - The remains of this castle still stand. It is an oasis of peace and quiet surrounded by farmland and the River Annan flows nearby. Thus this is perfect comfortable accommodation for fishermen. There is lockable storage for fishing kit and drying area. Lochmaben Golf course is gorgeous scenic course which is beautifully landscaped around two Lochs. Developed to a high standard it is a pleasure to play. Again, good lockable storage for any golfing equipment. You can walk directly from the cottage and Dumfries and Galloway is a treasure trove of walks - for intrepid hikers as well as the gentle walkers.
