Dolcylne Woods Wild Camping

6 Acres of beautiful mature conifer woodland overlooking the Wye Valley and the Black Mountains in the distance. There are paths to explore, several level camping pitches, spots to hang a hammock and communal fire pits. We are approximately 2miles from Hay on Wye and “The Wye Valley Walk” passes close by. Groups up to 12 seeking a peaceful place are welcome. Leave your devices in the car and enjoy the peace of the place. Discover the gorgeous landscape that surrounds this place to camp. The space It is a woodland of mature Douglas fir, ash and a mix of other species. Two main tracks run through, off which we have created to date 4 level camping areas of various sizes. However if you are looking to find a quiet corner for your hammock or small tent there are 6 acres to explore, get lost in, meditate or simply soak up the peace and quiet. There is washing water on tap, taken from a nearby stream and two long drop compost toilets. One made large enough to accommodate a wheelchair The site slopes quite steeply in places and brambles abound. Two streams drop through but are generally dry from May to autumn. The site faces south east with the Black Mountains and Gospel Pass opposite. we now have a kitchen cabin with sinks, hot running water, a double gas ring, single induction ring and a fridge run off our solar system. which is of course weather dependant, but we have a backup generator. Guest access Access is via a track off the A483. In good order but Not suitable for cars with a low clearance or large vans. Parking is just outside the wood to keep it vehicle free. We can provide help bringing in equipment if required. Cyclists and those travelling light are most welcome.
