Nestled on a quiet mountaintop within temple grounds, "Yakushian" is a retreat to relax and heal body and mind. Surrounded by nature, this private space offers an escape from city life. Enjoy the traditional irori (hearth) or have a BBQ under the stars on the wooden deck Temple experiences are available (extra fee), including sutra copying, Zen meditation, morning prayers, and the goma fire ritual. Find peace and spiritual healing at our temple, dedicated to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of healing The space Living Room: The living room is equipped with a TV, kitchen, irori (hearth), refrigerator, electric cooking appliances, and all necessary tableware and utensils for self-catering. Relax around the hearth and enjoy the cozy atmosphere. Bathroom: The bathroom is stocked with towels, toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, and body soap for your convenience. Toilet: Western-style toilet x 1 Bedrooms: Tatami room (6 tatami mats) with 6 futon sets, offering a traditional Japanese sleeping experience. Western-style room with 2 beds for a more modern sleeping option. Enjoy a refreshing stay surrounded by the tranquility of nature and the serene atmosphere of the temple. Guest access Yakushian is a private space reserved exclusively for guests. Temple Grounds: Guests may visit the temple between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Activities such as sutra copying, Zen meditation, morning prayers, Goma fire ritual, and Shugendo (mountain ascetic practice) are available by advance reservation (additional fees apply). Other things to note Fire Safety: The building is made of wood, so please handle fire with great care. Be sure to use proper safety precautions when using the irori or any other fire source. Pets: Pets are allowed, but please keep them outside and do not bring them indoors. Smoking: Smoking is prohibited inside the building. Please use the designated outdoor smoking area. BBQ in Irori: BBQ is allowed in the irori, but please use a griddle plate. Open flame cooking is not permitted. Firewood and Charcoal: Please purchase charcoal and firewood in advance.
