Description
Escape to Simplicity. Nestled in the grounds of Tara Springs Retreat Centre, slow down and enjoy the panoramic views, the sounds of the birds and the fresh country air. You can also take advantage of the classes and events running at the Retreat Centre. If you feel the need to leave, a 15-20 minute drive will have you in the rugged Goldfields landscapes or for a more country urban feel of the historic towns of Castlemaine, Kyneton and Daylesford are just 15-30min away. The space Shed Chic is a 36 sqm building which has transformed from a tin shed into an up-cycled cosy apartment comprising part of the old house and part of the old shed with many other bits from other sources. 😊 It has a good sized bathroom with a toilet and a shower over a full sized bath with a venting skylight for a sense of ‘lightness’ The kitchen is ample with an electric stove top and a convection oven and a microwave. We think it is pretty well setup for self-catering but are always open to feedback on improving that. Again it is a ‘light’ space due to the east facing window and a large solar skylight. There is a small fold up table with two simple wooden folding chairs. The bedroom is divided by a 1/3 wall (my creative endeavour) to a small sitting area with a futon couch (which can also be another double bed) Even though the apartment is south facing, it captures the morning light through a large east facing window and the evening light through a narrow west facing window in the bedroom area. The bed is a double futon with a memory foam mattress topper; everyone has slept really well here so far! There is also a small paved area at the entrance to soak up the atmosphere and the morning sun. I’m also currently working on creating your own enclosed space to the south with a couple of different sitting areas for sun or shade. Hoping it will be thereabouts by mid 2025🤞 The apartment is on a 5.5 acre block that also houses our business; Tara Springs Retreat Centre in the house that has been converted into a yoga teaching studio. A growing amount of things starting to happen there so you may want to time your stay with an event. We have a large permaculture inspired garden where we grow as much fruit and vegetables as we can. We often have people staying in our tiny house to help with the garden and property jobs and projects, so there is always plenty happening. Jane has a love of flowers and herbs so there are plenty of beautiful spaces around the property to explore. In terms of noise the predominant sounds are from the birdlife, however the Bendigo v-line train runs past us about a kilometre or so away and toots its horn at the level crossing which you will hear. Also, there is the occasional freight train in the middle of the night. We hope you will sleep so well here you won’t notice, but bring some ear plugs if you’re easily disturbed. Also I f the wind is blowing in the right direction and it is calm you may also be able to hear the low hum of the Calder freeway in the background which is 5-6km away. And because we’re in the country the invariable barking dog goes off in the night! Guest access When here you are welcome to walk around the property, however we ask you to let us know first so we can point out any potential hazards you need be aware of.
