Octagone Offgrid Tiny House

Description

Nestled in a valley at the foot of the Chics Chocs in Gaspésie, the offgrid micro house (which has no running water) is a private and sunny space to spend time in the calm of nature. Beautiful hiking trails and panoramic viewpoints are accessible from the door of the octagonal micro house. The space The tiny house is a place to detach from the city, noise, and technology. It is a place to face small challenges to get our instincts refreshed, to connect with ourselves and nature. We do not charge for cleaning because we believe everybody is capable of cleaning after themselves. The philosophy is to leave the cabin the way you found it. A little bit of inconvenience can wake up creativity and a sense of well-being. Microclimate: The tiny house is located in a valley; hence temperature here is consistently 5 degrees Celsius higher than on the side of the sea. Kitchen: There is a double-pot propane top stove, propane fridge, pots, pans, a coffee maker, plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery. There is a sink for washing but there is no running water in the cabin. Water: Water for drinking and washing has to be brought up from a stream. It is clean surface water. A water filter is available. Bathroom: The indoor bathroom is rustic basics from the time before the invention of plumbing: water from the tank in the kitchen can be used for washing hands. A 18L tank on the woodstove with a pully system is used for showers. We provide a basin, water jug, towels, and facecloths. Electricity: Solar panels supply the tiny house with electricity. 12v lights are located in the mezzanine and in the kitchen. There are also USB and 110V sockets in the form of a voltage bar accessible to travelers. Toilet: There is a compost toilet with a view of the mountain. The in-house bathroom has only a shower. Please empty the bassin at the end of each shower into the designated grey water filtration site. Heating/wood-burning stove: Although it is relatively simple, it may be helpful to follow the instruction for wood stoves, found in a drawer in the kitchen. We provide firestarters, please use it only to start the fire and use the big logs to keep the fire going. At the end of your stay please re-stack the wood from outside into indoor wood-stack beside the wood stove. Parking: You can leave your car at the parking space 100m down at the main road Rioux during the summer. During the winter you can leave your car at the parking space 1 kilometer from the tiny house on the main road Rioux. Snowshoes are a must. Garbage and recycling: Please bring garbage bags. We don't supply garbage bags as we believe that guests’ garbage is their responsibility, hope you agree :) Please empty your compost in the assigned spot near the cabin. Pets: We love and welcome dogs. Please do not allow dogs on the beds and sweep the tiny house thoroughly of dog hair when you leave as some other guests who stay at the tiny house may be allergic. Hiking/Snowshoeing: You can begin your hikes from the threshold of the tiny house. A short walk down the private road will connect you to the Trans-Québec 5 snowmobile trail. We also have our own hiking trail which loops around the property, taking around 30-45 min. The tiny house is surrounded by Nature. If you are ready for the challenge of basic living and leaving the tiny house in the state you found it, it is all yours. :) Guest access You have access to the entire tiny house, as well as the gardens, grounds, river and trails that surround it. Other things to note IN SUMMER From the parking lot, there is a 100m walk before arriving at the tiny house. IN WINTER From the parking lot, there is a 1km walk before arriving at the tiny house. Snowshoes or an off-trail snowmobile are mandatory. Le Bateleur offers 6 unique sites on the same property.
