Virdyke is a traditional croft house sitting in nine acres. The croft is nestled between the vast expanse of the hill and the open sea, within a few minutes of the outstanding Breckon Beach. The croft is perfectly positioned to easily explore the nearby islands of Fetlar and Unst in addition to Lerwick. With sea views from each room and nature all around Virdyke offers the opportunity to reset and immerse yourself in the natural beauty and quietude of the Shetland landscape. The space The main part of the croft house is open plan and perfect for spending time cooking and relaxing together. The kitchen has an Aga cooker and is fully equipped for self-catering. There is a generous pantry, a kettle, toaster, mini induction hob and fridge with ice box. The seating area has generous comfortable seating and a multi-fuel stove. There are two double bedrooms one with a king size bed and one with a double. Each bedroom has access to their own shower rooms. There is a laundry area in the larger ensuite shower room in the king size room. It is important to me to take the utmost care of our natural environment. Therefore I do my very best to avoid using anything plastic or man made, which is why you will find almost everything in the house is made from natural materials from towels and bedding, to wooden spoons and bamboo toilet roll. All our cleaning products are also sustainably sourced and carefully selected for their environmental credentials. There is no internet on the croft to ensure the croft is a truly tranquil escape however there is good mobile coverage from the croft for many networks. Guest access During your stay you can explore the surrounding land. There is also ample parking. Other things to note The croft house is of traditional construction and is simple in style and decoration. In other words perfectly imperfect and unique. Most things in the house are vintage or have been re purposed. The artwork is mostly original and some is by local artists.
