SLH is located beside Lake Lanao. Lake Lanao is one of the world’s ancient lakes and the second largest lake in the Philippines. “Maranaos “ or the “People of the Lake” have been living here for centuries and are the protectors of this majestic lake. The city is full of interesting historical events, the recent one was the “Marawi Seige” which turned half of the city to ashes. It is also called the Summer Capital of the South due to its favorable cool weather condition throughout the year.
