Near Saint-Emilion family polo estate with a river

Located near Saint Emilion, a comfortable stone house built in the 1400's with beautiful views, 25 acres of land -which were once the vineyards of Chateau Blanchon-, a wide diversity of landscapes, ponds, horses, sheep and chickens roaming free, a private river we call our pool with a deep part to swim in, a shallow area with sand and a little dam that makes a small waterfall to climb on. The 5 friendly horses graze in the field where the river is. The fire stove makes winter cooking memorable The space This low tech 500 year old stone house is comfortable for 10 people and it's thick walls keep it cool all summer long. 2 bedrooms have a/c, the other 2 have ceiling fans. What makes it absolutely unique and special are the outdoors and all the fun you can have without leaving. There is a polo field that we also like to use as an informal golf practice (with foam golf balls only for safety !) Horse riding is available upon request on the property. There are toys in the barn. The ponds are great for bird watching There is always the perfect spot with the perfect view, in the sun or in the shade, to enjoy breakfast lunch or dinner outside The camp fire area is great for entertainment and outdoor cooking. Last but not least our favorite part about this place is the river which is to us the most private and beautiful natural swimming area ever. In winter we cook on the fire stove which also has a fire oven and gather around it and it is as dreamy as it sounds. About the river : although it is on the property, the property is large so you will need to walk about 5 minutes to get to the river. You can also drive your car (you will need to drive on the the grass) up to the river if you want to bring things like floaties, chairs, a picnic table etc. You will find all of these items in the barn. since the property and animals need constant care there will always be someone staying on the property in an other house. A gardien will be there at all times to care after the animals and property. Guest access The village of Guitres is adorable with it's river on which you can paddle (giant paddles for 10 available with prior booking). A tennis court that can be used for free. The abbey is spectacular and worth a visit (free private visits in french can be arranged). This summer tourists could try playing anything on the orgue! And you can climb into and onto the framework. There is a free bus with a stop in the village that will take you to Coutras or Libourne. Both of these bigger towns have train stations from which you can go anywhere : Arcachon, Perigueux, Bordeaux, Sarlat, Bergerac.... And of course, Saint-Emilion is a 20 minute drive away and you must go there for a walk and a wine tasting at least. There are many nice restaurants in and near Guitres : le Prieuré, la Guinguette, Carnes, Chateau Prieuré Marquet and so many more in Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, but most of the time we love being at home too much to eat out ;) Other things to note The place is great for kids but you will need to keep a close eye on adventurous toddlers as there are many ponds and grounds to explore. We moved here when our children were 4 and up and all knew how to swim. When walking through the fields to the river please make sure to close the gates carefully so that the sheep and horses don't wander around. You can use the toys, clubs, floaties and rackets but please clean and dry the floaties to tidy them up afyer using them and in general tidy up everything you use from the barn.
