It is located on a farm only 2.5 miles from Banagher town in Co. Offaly, Ireland. McDonald's Farm Cottage has the feeling of seclusion while it is actually well placed to tour the West of Ireland and is within easy walking distance of the River Shannon The space The attention that's been given to every detail is noticeable in this small renovated cottage at McDonalds Farm, Lusmagh Banagher Co.Offaly. The ceiling is raised, and eco-friendly, thermostatly controlled heat pump heats the hot water and the also the house under the Italian tiled floor. The large living room, kitchen,sitting, and dining room are open-plan. The custom-made sofas upholstered in burgundy fabric provide a comfortable sitting area. The kitchen area has all appliances (a microwave, dishwasher, cooker, refrigerator and small freezer, toaster, coffee maker). The walls are creamy white, and the simple cupboards and dressers salvaged from the original house. Off the living room, a small utility room has a clothes washer and ironing facilities There is a TV and DVD, and there is excellent WiFi and Ethernet connection. The dining table seats eight people There are 2 ensuite bedrooms in the cottage will king-size beds. There is a private garden patio area to rear of the cottage with outdoor furniture. The cottage has under-floor heating and thermostats in bedrooms. Its location near the River Shannon makes the area an angler's dream. Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, its river cruises, Bog walks and tours, and great fishing ( coarse fishing - pike fishing is particularly rewarding). Its proximity to several golf courses, Excellent super markets and shops, restaurants, and hotels make it a great holiday location . Most of the pubs serve really good food and creamy Guinness. Guest access There is ample car parking space. You will have access to a beautiful garden. The house is 4 km from the River Shannon, so The Meelick and Lusmagh Bog Walk are on your doorstep. Great for an early morning walk or cycle ! Other things to note Ancient Monastic Site:Clonmacnoise was founded in 545AD by St Ciaran. The monastic ruins consists of a cathedral, two round towers, 8 churches and 3 high crosses. There is also the remains of a 13th century castle. There is a modern interpretive centre and tourist office on the site. Charleville Castle, Tullamore: Charleville is Ireland's finest gothic revival castle. It is considered to be Francis Johnston's masterpiece, he also designed the G.P.O in Dublin. The castle was built between 1798 and 1810. The massive dining room was designed by Sir William Morris. Tullamore Dew Heritage Centre: Be sure to stop off at Tullamore and enjoy the heritage tour on the site of the original Tullamore Dew Distillery. It will take you through life in a small Irish town from the early 1800s onwards as well as showing how whiskey is made. You will end the tour with a complimentary glass of Tullamore Dew or Irish Mist Irish whiskey liqueur. Birr Castle Demesne:Features Irelands Historic Science Centre. In the Grounds is the Great Telescope built by the Earl of Rosse in the 1840's and the most wonderful gardens you will want to visit. Bunratty Castle, was built in the 15th century by the Earl of Thomond .He was famous for his hospitality. Following this tradition of hospitality, the world renowned Bunratty Medieval Banquet is held twice nightly throughout the year. Bunratty Folk Park, recreates rural and urban life in 19th century Victorian Ireland. Galway City: The top tourist destination in the West of Ireland. A seaside resort for all seasons. It has a treasure trove of options for the visitor. Historic and scenic sites abound alongside the modern and colourful attractions Leisure Land, Salthill, Galway is a unique entertainment and health and fitness facility situated on Ireland's longest seaside promenade.
