Description

Built in 1803 and transformed in the 1960s by renowned designer Ward Bennett, whose work lives in MoMA's collection, this classic stone barn is unlike anywhere you've ever stayed. Comfortable and stylish, we've designed this home to be the ultimate retreat; featuring a hidden pool, large greenhouse, Japanese garden, and plenty of spots to curl up with a good book. An inspiring and cozy escape for couples, creatives, and bookish types alike. The space When you enter the main floor, you’ll be immediately struck by the tall, stylized windows that became a Ward Bennet signature. The comfortably appointed great room is set up for lounging with a view. Lofted cozily above the great room are the library and bedroom, creating a functional but beautiful open plan space. Also on the main floor is a funky, colorful dining room, Japanese soaking tub, picturesque balcony and the main bathroom. And above, the library is an ideal workspace, featuring a large desk with a view, monitor, and printer. Downstairs, you’ll find a well outfitted kitchen with bar top seating and another comfortable living room with a wood stove and full entertainment setup including TV, Xbox, Roku, record player. The entire home is equipped with super fast wifi and there is a HomePod on both levels for music and several voice-controlled lights. Tucked away on a quiet road, surrounded by trees and bamboo, the house offers a private country retreat without straying far from the comforts of town. Just 5 minutes outside of the charming town of Riegelsville and 15 minutes from the city of Easton, you’ll have quick access to bars, restaurants and entertainment. And with the Delaware river so close, you can easily enjoy a day of tubing, jet skiing, or kayaking. Or just stay hidden away on the property with plenty to keep you occupied, including a secluded pool*, Japanese-inspired garden, greenhouse lounge, fire pit, and many outdoor seating areas tucked away in the lush greenery. The landscaped grounds beg for exploration, featuring rare specimen plantings that'll keep you and your Seek app busy. Plus, the Mariton Wildlife Sanctuary is a short walk down the street and offers several trails for exploration and hiking. This is a stunning setting for a relaxing weekend for two, a solo creative retreat, an intimate event with friends, or, for our fellow bookish types, a reading marathon in one nook after another. *Pool is typically between Memorial Day to Labor Day. Guest access Guests will have complete privacy with access to the whole property. Excluded are the garage and the outbuilding attached. Other things to note This is a old home with lots of stairs and a few unguarded heights. Please make note of any safety concerns before booking. This is a second home so there will some personal belongings. However, there will be plenty of storage space cleared for your use. Our driveway can be slightly tricky to turn around in or back down, so please proceed with care. Pool is typically between Memorial Day to Labor Day.
