Handcrafted creative cabin with a sauna and piano

Come for a tranquil, secluded getaway in our handcrafted cabin near the end of a remote Nova Scotian peninsula that feels wonderfully your own. Enjoy morning lattes on the timber-frame porch, beachcomb and surf at the nearby beach, bike to the local wharf, unwind with a wood-fired sauna and cold plunges in the creek, write songs or poems on the piano or typewriter, get creative in the converted school bus studio, or simply sit by the wood stove with a good book or a tasty drink. Over the past 4 years, we've meticulously handcrafted this cabin to create a unique vacation spot to help you unwind, tune out, connect with the environment and be creative. The cabin exterior with its large deck and porches is tucked up against thousands of acres of coastal forests, and the front yard is open to bathe in the sun, and have room for bonfires and lawn activities. On the far side of the lawn you'll find the old school bus which has been converted into a creative studio which always remains open for you to enjoy. Behind the cabin you'll find a path leading into the woods where you'll find a seasonal brook and wood-fired sauna. Sauna spa robes, scrubs, and sandals are provided. The ocean and Johnston's Pond Beach is minutes away, and many nights you can hear the crashing waves in the distance. On clear nights, you'll be met with spectacular star gazing, and often the sound of a hooting owl or yipping coyotes. Nature feels very present here! The cabin is open concept and hand crafted with beautiful timber frame features and rustic wood ceilings. The downstairs features a large central area to relax, sit on the handcrafted built-in benches, and cozying up to the wood stove on cold nights. The upstairs features a dedicated reading nook and a unique pedway across to a bright bedroom with a queen bed with quality linens. The kitchen is well equipped and includes quality coffee, teas, and all the basic kitchen amenities you need, including an espresso machine, cocktail shaker, a variety of sizes of pots and pans and baking supplies. Beside the kitchen is a cute table for eating, or just staring out the window with a cup of tea. The bathroom is located on the main floor and offers a custom-built walk-in shower, as well as high quality soaps and comfy bathrobes. The outside deck is spacious and south facing, offering lots of opportunity to soak up the sun in the two cedar lawn chairs. The timber frame porch is also spacious and offers a cooler place in the shade or on rainy days to relax, and have an outdoor meal on the patio table, or lounge in the hammock. Johnston's Pond Beach is a short 4 minute drive or 9 minute bike away, and we have provided bikes and surfboards for you to use, as well as a beach bucket full of beach towels, plastic cups, and a water bottle. Wetsuits can be rented for a fee - just let us know you're interest, and we'll make sure they are provided for you. For those wishing to stay connected, we offer high speed fibre opp wifi. Reception at the cabin is hit or miss, and if good reception is required, you'll find full bars at the beach. The cabin is perfect for weekend retreats, romantic nights, creative getaways, and basking in Nova Scotia's wild coastal landscape.i ok Guest access Guests have full access to the entire property. We are not on the property, and guests are given full privacy during their stay. The cabin is the main space, but the bus can also be enjoyed to have a second creative getaway and a cup of coffee by the wood stove. Check in is any time after 3pm, and check out by 12pm. Other things to note ***The cabin is located 4.7km down a public gravel road which gets muddy from mid February to late March. AWD is highly recommended during this time. We will be sure to advise you if the road is in bad shape and may effect your drive. You may spot the occasional friendly neighbour, but for the most part, the beach and road are quiet, and the area feels wonderfully your own. Part of the cabin’s charm is its secluded setting. It’s about 30–40 minutes from the nearest amenities in Lockeport, Shelburne, or Liverpool. The closest gas station is in Sable River, about 15 minutes away, but it closes early.
