Your host Clare has 14+ years’ Airbnb experience and offers local tips and local brochures to make your stay special. One dog allowed. There may be 1 or 2 dogs on the property. The space Tarmigan Annex is a downstairs unit in a family home in Alderney’s tranquil Fontaine David woodland. Just a 10-minute walk to the main Victoria Street and Braye Beach, it's the perfect base from which to explore. Enjoy the charm of the island, golden beaches, wildlife, and warm hospitality. Bikes, wetsuits, and bodyboards are available for hire. The annex is part of “The Tree House,” with its own private entrance. Book now before 2026 upgrades increase the price by 25%! Alderney is a true hidden gem—only 3.5 miles long and 1.5 miles wide—yet rich with character, beauty, and charm. With golden beaches, dramatic coastal paths, historic forts, and thriving local wildlife, it’s a dream destination for walkers, birdwatchers, swimmers, and anyone looking to escape the rush of modern life. Whether you’re here to unwind or explore, you’ll find something special around every corner. The annex is part of “The Tree House,” my newly purchased home, and offers its own private entrance and hallway. Inside, you’ll find a spacious bedroom and sitting area, a fully equipped kitchen/diner, a compact shower room, and convenient storage in the hallway and kitchen. It’s a calm, clean, and comfortable space that feels like your own little hideaway. While the annex is already well-equipped, Upgrading both the annex and main house is in the pipeline (but not happening during your stay!). This includes refurbishing the shower room. Once complete, the nightly rate will increase by 25%—so now is the perfect time to enjoy it at today’s great value, currently just a little more than the price of a catered campsite pitch. Just a short 10-minute walk in one direction takes you to Victoria Street in the centre of St Anne, where you’ll find independent shops, cafés, and restaurants. In the other direction lies Braye Beach and the harbour area, with its golden sands, friendly pubs, and seafood spots—ideal for morning swims, sunset strolls, or relaxing with a drink and a view. To make the most of your stay, I also offer pedal bikes, one wetsuit and bodyboards for hire—perfect for exploring the island’s quiet lanes, enjoying its stunning beaches, or diving into Alderney’s coastal waters. Whether you're planning a day cycling along the cliffs, bodyboarding at Braye, or snorkeling in crystal-clear coves, we’ve got gear you need. Please note that at present we do not offer an outside seating area although this is also in the pipeline and we are working hard on the gardens. There are very many wonderful places to find coffee and in the harbour area, three of these offer coffee and views! As your host, I bring over 14 years of Airbnb experience from London and take great care in making guests feel at home. I love welcoming people to this beautiful place and am always happy to share local tips to help you discover the best Alderney has to offer. Guests often tell me they love the quiet of the woodland setting, the annex’s simplicity and charm, and the ease of access to both town and sea. If you're looking for a base with nature on your doorstep and adventure nearby, Tarmigan Annex could be just the place. Please note that I only accept guests who are registered and verified with Airbnb and this is according to Airbnb policy and is also for safety, security and insurance purposes. If guests arrive who are not the bookers I will reserve the right to cancel the booking and guests will have to seek accommodation elsewhere on the island for their stay. Additional Guest Info: Equipment Hire & Parking Here’s a bit more detail for guests who like to plan ahead—or are just curious! Below you'll find info on parking, and the hire of bikes, boogie boards, and wetsuits. 🚗 Parking & Storage & Security My car is parked beside the annex at the front and parking is available on the premises alongside the annex on the side of the door to the annex. The driveway is steep, but manageable—my Renault Clio handles it easily in 1st gear! You will find that little is locked up on Alderney! You will however have a key to your annex and you are welcome to use it or not use it. It is very unlikely that any bike will be stolen but I do ask that bikes are locked when left outside e.g. at the beach or during a walk. I provide locks. 🚴♀️ Bike Hire Pedal Bikes (Trek road bikes helmets and with optional panniers): £10 for ant portion of the day unless we need the pedal bikes for half a day 0730-1230, in which case you will be charged just £5.00. E-Bike (one only) £15 per day or any portion of it. They are well maintained and in good condition. We have pumps in the white tool room. As we use the bikes, please let us know in advance of you needing the bike(s) ideally before your stay but do ask even if you have not booked. In this case we cannot guarantee their availability. The E=Bike is almost always available. For all extras, we add everything up and settle up after the end of your stay using the Airbnb 'resolution' service. Any damage or repairs must be covered by the guest. ⚠️ Please do not cycle up or down the driveway due to safety concerns and to minimise wear and tear on the bikes. It's best to walk bikes on this stretch. Alternative Bike Hire: Pedal and certified electric bike rental is also available in town through the shop, Cycle and Surf. Andrew is super-helpful. 🌊 Boogie Board Hire Wave Warrior board – £8 per day Standard board – £2.50 per day If broken, the board must be replaced like for like. No advance booking needed—just ask during your stay! 🧜♀️ Wetsuit Hire Available in ladies’ size 14+: Hi-end Blue Seventy Full-body thermal wetsuit – £10 per day No advance booking needed—just ask during your stay! Please do not sit on any rocks in the wet suit. Guest access The bedsit is on the island of Alderney and is part of “The Tree House,” my newly purchased home, and offers its own private entrance and hallway. Inside, you’ll find a spacious bedroom and sitting area, a fully equipped kitchen/diner, a compact shower room, and convenient storage in the hallway and kitchen. It’s a calm, clean, and comfortable space that feels like your own little hideaway. There is a patio area close to the annex but while I upgrade this area, your best bet for outside space is to wander down the wooded path and explore this amazing island. Spend time on its world class beaches and stunning footpaths. There are hundreds of picnic spots. I've been coming here for 50 years and I haven't run out of new places to sit and gaze at the scenery. Other things to note 🧼 Cleaning No cleaning fee is charged—please leave the annex clean and tidy. Strip beds and leave used linens/towels in a pile. Optional cleaning help (£50) is available if you're leaving early—please ask in advance 🐶 Pets One well-behaved dog welcome for £10 per night. Bring a blanket for them to sit/sleep on. Water/food bowls can be improvised from kitchenware. All dog waste must be picked up and disposed of off the property, using public bins around the island. ♻️ Other Things to Note Alderney takes recycling seriously. Bins and bags are provided—please take of as much nearby disposal as possible. Perishables can be passed to me if I’m home at checkout. If not, I’ll coordinate with the next guests or ask that they be binned. ✈️ Travel Disruptions If flights are delayed or cancelled, I’ll do my best to accommodate. If the annex is booked, I may be able to host you in my main house at the same nightly rate.
