The Gatehouse on Whidbey Island

Relax with the whole family at this peaceful Whidbey Island get away. Bring the kids and your dog and enjoy the spacious property, fire pit, partial water view, and proximity to gorgeous beaches and charming towns. The space Just a couple quick notes about the property: The Wifi name and password are on the back of the router in the front living room. Its the black box sitting on the little glass table against the wall between the two side windows. We have a repeater in the main living room that you see as you enter the front door. The Wifi password is the same for that one. The name is the same, except for add an 02. The Wifi is adequate but be prepared for some times of weak signal. This is a rural property and cell phone coverage is inconsistent at different parts of the property, depending on your carrier. All the beds have comforters. There are extra comforters and pillows in the armoire in the back 'blue' bedroom. There are extra sheets for all beds in the green dresser in the hallway. The house is heated by baseboard and wall-mounted electric heaters. Each room has its own. Keep curtains, clothes, bags, etc. away from these heaters. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to feed a crowd, including blender, food processor, coffee maker, microwave, oven, stove, fridge and all pots and pans, knives and utensils. And of course lots of dishes and cutlery and glasses. This property does NOT have an automatic dishwasher. There is a propane gas grill out on the back porch for your use. There are also basic spices, sugar and flour, coffee and tea, and dishsoap and sponges. There is ONE full bathroom which includes a bathtub with shower. The bathtub is an old clawfoot variety and nice to soak in, but does have some mars. There are lots of plush cotton towels. There is a hair dryer and basic shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and handsoap. The water comes from a well. It is perfectly safe but some people don't like the mineral taste. The well water has more minerals than your average tap water, so the plumbing fixtures show some mineral deposits. We provide Brita water filter pitchers, which remove the mineral taste effectively. The property is on a septic system, so please do not put anything into the system except human waste and the toilet paper provided. No feminine hygiene products and no food scraps or grease, please. Dispose of them in the garbage can provided. There is one outside garbage can against the wall between the two garages. Pickup is every Tuesday morning, so if you are here on Monday, please take the can out to the street. Guest access Use the whole house as you like. There is one locked room where we put our personal stuff while guests use the house. You can park vehicles anywhere in the back behind the house. You can use the space to turnaround, also. Please do not park vehicle on the front lawn as that can damage our septic system. Feel free to use the firepit, but please note whether there is a burn ban in effect when you come. Put out all fires thoroughly when not attended. Feel free to use the propane grill. Other things to note This is a rural property and cell phone coverage can be spotty at different locations around the house. Likewise, the WiFi signal can be inconsistent and is strongest in the front room.
