Traditional Japanese Home Stay With Maki

Step into a slower, quieter side of Japan. Hidden in the peaceful countryside near the landscapes that inspired “My Neighbor Totoro,” this cozy home offers a nostalgic glimpse into everyday Japanese life. You’ll stay together with Maki, a host for over 40 years, in an older countryside home filled with warmth & character. Enjoy the refreshing nature, and experience the calm atmosphere of rural Japan - far away from crowded tourist areas! The space This room is one of the largest spaces in the house. It includes a large work desk, an extra dining table, and plenty of open space, making it ideal for remote work, creative hobbies, studying, or simply enjoying a slower pace of life. There is also a spacious closet for hanging clothes and storing luggage, allowing guests to settle in comfortably during their stay. Guest access Your private room is located on the second floor. There are also shared spaces such as the kitchen, toilet, and shower room, which guests are free to use at any time. The first floor is where Maki lives and spends her daily life. Between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM, guests are welcome to relax in the dining and living area, watch TV, play the piano, or simply enjoy conversation and share meals with the other guests and Maki. During your stay Maki enjoys meeting people from different countries and cultural backgrounds. She often invites guests to join her for a home-cooked meal, conversation, or tea whenever possible. Since Maki has not been able to travel much herself, she enjoys learning about the world through the people who visit her home. Most of the time, Maki will be at home or nearby, so please feel free to talk with her, ask questions, or share stories about your travels and culture.
