The Gatehouse Treehouse in Pukerua Bay

Unwind in this modern treehouse with all the comforts of home. Surrounded by trees, you can see tui and piwakawaka by day and often hear ruru at night. Just off the main road through Pukerua Bay and close to the beach and Escarpment Track, this tiny home is easy to find. With a full kitchen and a barbecue in the private courtyard, eating in is a breeze. Picnic on the beach with takeaways from our local food truck, or eat out in one of the neighbouring villages. Relax and enjoy our friendly Bay. The space Named the Gatehouse due to being at the entrance to a long driveway, the house is designed to make the most of the site and to feel part of the treescape surrounding it. This unique tiny home is architecturally designed to have minimum impact on the surrounding bush. Large windows frame the view beyond yet maintain privacy. There are no curtains or blinds to detract from the view. The bedroom space is on the mezzanine level and is accessed by an internal staircase with a sturdy handrail. There is a comfortable queen size bed with two skylights above for stargazing. Downstairs is a comfortable daybed for an additional guest. The full kitchen is stocked with essentials including bread, spreads and cereal for breakfast and dinner staples to add to your fresh produce. The compact bathroom has a great shower. The Gatehouse was built in 2023 and is well insulated and dry. A ventilation system brings in fresh filtered air and can be controlled by guests. We lived in the Gatehouse until recently, and now are pleased to be able to offer it to others to enjoy. Guest access Self check-in or welcome by host by arrangement. The house and grounds in front of the house are available for guests to enjoy. There is a fence surrounding the front and sides of the house for guest privacy. Guests have access to the basement where the combination washer/dryer is stored. Parking for one car is available outside the gate and is off the road. Additional parking is often available along Weku Road. Other things to note The Gatehouse is just off the main road through Pukerua Bay. There may be some traffic noise as a result. The house feels private as it surrounded by trees and a fence and it is very well insulated and double-glazed. It is a short walk to the beach, a three-minute walk to the start of the Escarpment Track and a 10-15 minute walk to the train station. The local dairy is well stocked. The food truck next to the dairy is open from mid afternoon until evening Tuesday to Sunday for takeaways. A short drive or train ride will take you to a supermarket and a number of takeaway outlets, bars, cafes and other eateries.
