A peaceful retreat for the solo female traveler. My eclectic & welcoming home is on .37 acre in a peaceful wooded setting, close to amenities and hiking, and 2.5 miles from our lively downtown, Market Square, and The Old City. Happy Holler, with its indie theatre, vintage shops, eateries & local Co-op, is a short ride away. Downtown you’ll find the farmer’s market, theatres grand & cozy, pubs & craft breweries, casual & fine dining, live music, and shops & galleries for all things local. The space My beautiful North Knoxville home was built in 1899 and sits on .37 of an acre in a peaceful wooded and parklike setting near downtown. 10-foot ceilings, original woodwork, and 6-foot windows create a light and airy space. Large open concept living and dining space. Art by local Knoxville artists and painter friends from Santa Barbara, CA adorn the walls. There's a deck out back for enjoying sunny days, and the backyard has a fire pit and ample room for gardening. In the spring and summer, you'll see my hay bale gardens in various stages of growth. Over fall and winter, they create shelters for small wildlife and insects to hunker down during the colder months. During the year you may get a glance of the hawk family visits my yard daily, songbirds of all sorts, rambunctious squirrels, and the occasional groundhog, possum, rabbit, or racoon. I have a young female cat named Katniss who lives with me, and another stray cat, Fred, visits every day for breakfast - you may find them lounging in the living room in the afternoons. Guest access I have two beautiful & well-lit rooms for booking: the Moon Room & Tree Room. Your space is a private bedroom with a Nectar gel memory foam Queen Bed, desk & office chair for writing or working online, ample clothing storage, and fridge/freezer. The Tree Room has a closet & 12" memory foam mattress. The Moon Room has a 10" memory foam mattress. The bedding is 100% cotton. There's a coffee station & microwave for use of both rooms in the hallway & both rooms share the hallway bathroom. Guests have access to the common spaces - living room, dining room, entry/altar room for meditation or yoga, hallway coffee station, shared hallway bathroom. The kitchen, laundry, and back of the house is not available to short-term guests. During your stay I am happy to help you plan your stay and share with you some of my favorite food and activities in our lovely town. I teach jewelry arts classes, read tarot, and hold an online healing/intention circle a few times a month from my home or at a local studio, and work part time at a beloved downtown restaurant. My schedule is somewhat fluid, and when I'm not at home, I'm available by phone or text, if needed. Other things to note Since both rooms on offer share a common bathroom, my room listings are open for booking to female travelers.
