The Honeypot

The Honeypot is a traditional Cornish stone barn dating back to the 1800s – a time when it was originally used to store hay for the farm’s grazing cattle. This cute country cottage, which sleeps four, is a comforting retreat to return to after a day spent at the nearby beaches; just a three-minute drive to Widemouth Bay and Black Rock and an eight-minute drive to Bude, with its award-winning beaches, canal, restaurants and more. The space Small but perfectly formed, the decoration throughout is light and modern with a traditional country cottage feel. The Honeypot sleeps four across two bedrooms; there’s a larger double bedroom and a twin room, both with built-in storage. Designed in an upside-down layout, it’s a great space for a family of four. Upstairs, there’s a newly fitted kitchen, dining and living area which provides a light and airy space to cook, eat and relax. All appliances, kitchenware and tableware are provided for ease, the dining table comfortably seats four. There are two sofas, a TV with NOWtv box and a cosy wood-burning fire. The bathroom is also situated upstairs which features a bath with an electric shower over (not a power shower), basin and WC. You can access the property on both levels with French doors on the ground floor and a set of exterior steps to reach the upstairs level. Outside there’s a pretty lawn area, plus a wooden bench and charcoal BBQ. Guests also have access to the communal space shared with the adjacent holiday cottage, The Oak. It features a children’s play area, a large lawn and there’s plenty of parking. Less than 100m down the road is Cornish Coasts Farmshop & Café. Open daily from 8am to 4pm, the licensed café is praised for its freshly cooked breakfasts and lunches. On Friday evenings, they offer a takeaway service from 5pm to 7pm, featuring items like burgers and fish & chips. The farm shop is well stocked with local produce, from fresh meats, cheeses, and vegetables to local wines, beers, and spirits, plus handy essentials such as milk, butter and bread. Guest access Whole property, plus shared garden, play area and large lawn. Other things to note Guests have use of the laundry facilities (small charge applied) which is situated at the nearby farmhouse. We do accept dogs at The Honeypot but we ask that they are kept on a lead when outside at all times as there is roaming poultry, and dogs are never to be left alone in the property. If you want to give your four-legged friend an off lead run-around, we can give you access to a livestock-free field not far from the The Honeypot. Please note: The Honeypot is situated on North Penlean Farm which is just off the A39. While the traffic noise is never usually a problem, and often seen as a positive for those exploring Cornwall, we like to make our guests aware. There is wifi at the property, but the signal is not strong enough heavy downloading. Towels are provided to use in the property, but please bring beach towels.
