Passos/MG is considered the capital of Southwest Minas Gerais, located near the banks of the Rio Grande, which makes the city a reference for tourism, that is, the gateway to the Nascentes das Gerais Tourist Circuit, with all the diversity of natural and cultural resources present here, a few kilometers from the road that leads to Serra da Canastra. The Nascentes das Gerais Tourist Circuit, partly bathed by Lake Furnas, Lake Peixoto and Lake Estreito, holds a diversity of ecological treasures. The “Mar de Minas”, as the lake is known, was formed artificially as a result of the damming of the waters of the Grande and Sapucaí rivers, among others. Furnas changed the local landscape; cities and forests were flooded, giving way to canyons, waterfalls and islands. A landscape that was recreated, but a people who maintained their religiosity and tradition. Water sports and natural exuberance are the strengths of the region, which covers part of the Serra da Canastra National Park, where the “Velho Chico” - São Francisco River is born.] The religious-historical-cultural heritage is well preserved and fostered, such as the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Penha built in 1864, in an octagonal shape, is one of the main symbols of the art and religiosity of Passos; the Mother Church of Senhor Bom Jesus dos Passos, built between 1865/75 with famous polychromies of the 16th and 17th centuries; the House of Culture with the permanent collection of the artist Wagner de Castro; Culture Station and Memory Center, an old restored and listed railway station houses the municipal historical collection and spaces for artistic exhibitions; the Church N. S. da Penha (Sanctuary), which is equipped with external lighting, is seen from various angles of the city and is considered one of the main postcards of Passos; The visitor still has the option of shopping tourism. The city has a vast clothing park with 100 factories concentrated on Av. Com. Francisco Avelino Maia, also known as Avenida da Moda. The furniture industry (rustic and fine furniture) has been standing out and gaining national expression for its quality of finish, differentiated design and durability. Strong commerce, institutional and private service infrastructure, combined with traditional Minas Gerais hospitality, make shopping tourism in Passos a real differential for those who visit the city. PASSOS HAS EVERYTHING TO WIN YOU OVER!!!
