Nestled in the estuary of the Skeena River, within the Great Bear Rainforest Conservancy, lies the Cassiar Cannery. Ranked as one of the "Top 10 Most Unusual Places to Overnight in BC" by Destination BC, you can watch the mesmerizing movement of the ocean - sometimes right around the house! With four furnished, self-catered Guest Houses, the Cassiar Cannery adds a luxurious yet authentic experience on BC's beautiful North Coast. This is three bedroom Sockeye House which sleeps six. The space Once the longest consecutively operated salmon cannery on the West Coast, the Cassiar Cannery has been undergoing restoration and revitalization since 2006. Our Guest Houses are unique, comfortable and well equipped with full kitchens, top end mattresses with luxury linens, handcrafted cedar furniture and huge waterfront decks with BBQs from salvaged wood milled on site and a five-star Trip Advisor rating to give you confidence about a visit to the Cassiar Cannery. Sockeye House is bright, comfortable, has a washer/dryer and is a favourite of our guests! Whether you are coming for leisure, an extended business trip or an event like one of our signature experiential programs or you would like to organize your own corporate or leisure retreat or have a destination wedding, or if you like adventure with incredible sport fishing and wildlife viewing, the Cassiar Cannery is a perfect unique base for your North Coast adventure. We work with many incredible operators, from fine dining chefs, fully insured charter boats for jet boat adventures or sport fishing to having relaxing spa treatments, with enough notice, you can customize your trip. As hosts, we love to meet all our adventurous guests who like to get off the beaten track and experience something out of the ordinary. It's rustic and rural. If you like to pop out for a coffee, hit the shops, need your cell phone and unlimited internet, we are a scenic 30 minute drive from Prince Rupert. If you like fresh air, wilderness scenery, need to check your email occasionally and don't mind phoning home gratis in our 1980s phone booth, get in touch! We'd love to meet you! Justine and Mark Guest access All Guest Houses are self contained with separate entrances. Guests have access to the Cassiar Cannery with exception of our huge century old wooden dock. Other things to note We have dogs on site - two huskies and a massive furry Japanese Bear Dog. We've tried to have pets but our huskies are the worst hosts. So sorry no pets. We are on an active rail line so expect to hear some trains come by at all hours. They don't honk and you can take advantage of VIA Rail, the passenger train, stopping right here! We do not have cell service at the Cassiar Cannery. We do have a free phone in our phone booth for our guests to call home. We have satellite internet. It has restrictions but you are able to connect and check emails. Registration Details Provincial registration number: Exempt
