Countryside Annexe

The Annexe is a delightful mostly self-contained living space in the shared grounds of a 17th Century farmhouse. Surrounded by countryside, but a short drive/walk to the historic market town of Bishops Stortford. It is also only 35 minutes on fast trains to central London and Cambridge, and less than 15 minutes to Stansted Airport. The Annexe is a recently built, oak framed accommodation within a peaceful setting, fully equipped with all amenities to enhance the getaway experience. The space The Annexe is attached to the main house via a securely locked inner door leading to shared utility room facilities. It has its own front door access and outside seating area at the rear through patio doors from the lounge. The Annexe itself comprises spacious accommodation in the bedroom, kitchen/diner, bathroom and lounge with adjustable underfloor heating throughout. Kitchen Upon entering the Annexe is the kitchen/diner where you will find a welcome pack of milk, eggs and bread at the start of your visit. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking at home and has a large dining table which can seat up to 6 people. It has a range of high quality essentials including an induction hob and extractor fan, double oven, large free standing fridge/freezer, dualit toaster and kettle. There is a large larder cupboard for storage which also contains a water softener that feeds the bathroom water. Lounge The Lounge has two sofas, one of which is a comfortable double bed option. There is also fibre broadband/wifi and a tv with terrestrial channels and Netflix. In addition there is a DVD player with a comprehensive selection of DVDs. Bedroom The bedroom has a superking bed with extra pillows. There are bedside tables and a wardrobe and a chest of drawers for plenty of storage. There is also a TV with terrestrial channels available. A mirror and hairdryer is provided too. Bathroom The bathroom has a large walk-in shower with overhead and handheld shower heads. There is a large wash basin with storage underneath and in the mirrored bathroom cabinet. There is of course a toilet! However, please note that the waste water system here is via a septic tank and can only take human waste and toilet paper. Bins are provided for any other waste. There is also a heated tower rail. Glass Link leading to Utility Room A glass link leads from the lounge to the utility room and contains hoover, and floor mop for any immediate mishaps. There is also a coat rail and a recycling box for use by guests. The utility room is an area shared with the main house and it has a washing machine and microwave which can be used upon request. Garden Guests are welcome to walk the garden which is two acres of lawn, orchard and various flower beds. The garden is securely fenced all round as the hosts have two dogs and a pond (fenced) which is regularly home to wild ducks and ducklings and there are also bee hives, the latter producing excellent raw honey available for purchase. Parking There is ample free parking within the extensive gravel drive way secured by perimeter fencing and external CCTV. An EV charger is available onsite on request and at additional cost. Guest access Upon arrival for your stay at the Annexe a key safe is beside the front door if the hosts will not be able to greet you. The code for the key safe changes between occupiers and therefore will be provided to you on the day of arrival. Other things to note The main house dates back to around 1650 and was historically a farm but it is now a working home. The hosts live and work on site and will do all they can to help make your stay as comfortable and rewarding as possible, and are happy to offer tips on sights, travel, shopping and local dining options. They will also try to remedy any faults that they are informed of during your stay. There is a full range of supermarkets within a short drive.
