Description
Stay in a cozy, hand built, rural Shepherds Hut in a peaceful, countryside location next to The Wey & Arun canal. 20-30 minutes walk to two great pubs (The Onslow Arms, Loxwood and The Sir Roger Tichbourne, Alfold Bars) & Alfold Larder. There is a comfy double bed with memory foam mattress and fresh linen. A well-equipped kitchen with gas hob and fridge. Flushing toilet and shower. Outdoor seating and plenty of footpaths to explore the West Sussex countryside. Four legged friends welcome too. The space Woody is a hand-built Shepherds hut (built by our uncle) on an original 1930's Dyson Trailer. There are steps leading up to the hut which gives it a pleasing height, looking out to the Wey & Arun canal bridlepath and adjacent farm fields. The hut is located on an open area of grass shaded by veteran oak trees, in front of (and for privacy with its back to) our house and Dragonfly Lodge holiday apartment. There are cars parked behind/nearby on our driveway and on the grass area in front of the hut for our summer tipi guests. There is a fixed double bed (enclosed 3 sides) which requires climbing into, making it unsuitable for guests with limited mobility. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay. There is a well-equipped kitchen with gas hob, whistling kettle (not electric) and tea/coffee making kit and electric fridge and sockets. Kitchen utensils, cookware, cutlery and crockery are provided. There is an immersion heater for heating up hot water for the sink and shower. There is a flushing toilet (boat toilet). The hut has electric hookup but is otherwise off grid, so fresh water and waste are tanked. The shower is compact (caravan) size and provides short 3-4 minute showers. We will check and refill the water tank daily from the exterior of the hut (without disturbing you). An outdoor table and chairs are provided, and fold out chairs that can be used inside the hut. Guest access It is possible to self check in and we will explain where to collect the keys. The shower/immersion heater and toilet require short explanation for correct use, so if we have not been able to meet you in person, we will send you short video instructions which we require you to follow. A grass parking space in front of the hut is provided. Getting around our area by car is easiest, however once here there are plenty of walking, cycling routes and bridlepaths to explore. We have stunning nearby forestry commission routes, walking pub / cafe tours and countryside walks. Other things to note Please note that our location is quiet and secluded at the end of a lane. However there may be other guests nearby and on site at our holiday let (Dragonfly Lodge Ifold) or Glamping tipi's (Alpaca My Tipi). We are also a busy family with working small holding, so although it's mostly peaceful, you may hear outdoor machinery and cars moving around. Pet dogs are welcome, the area outside is not enclosed and dogs must remain on lead at all times. We have a big dog nearby (enclosed) and guests in our holiday let may also have dogs staying. The hut is compact and steps make it harder for less mobile dogs (and humans!). Please do not allow pets on the bed. Bring your own dog blankets and towels. The shower is compact caravan size and hot water is limited to 4 minute showers.
