Description
Little Barber is a cosy and comfortable retreat for anyone wishing to get away for a relaxing stay in the countryside. Set amid Bucklebury Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interests (SSSI) and one of the largest commons in Berkshire it's a popular destination for bird watchers, walkers and cyclists. We have a gastro pub and a cafe just a 15 minute stroll away. Easy access to M4/A34. Oxford, 30miles. London 52 miles away. Parking for two cars. Pet friendly. Enclosed Patio. The space Little Barber is a self-contained cottage situated next to the owner's house. The open-plan living room/kitchen has a sofa and two rocking chairs, a dining table, and a designated workspace. Good Wi-Fi and a smart TV The kitchen is fully equipped consisting of a fridge-freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, kettle, and a full-size oven with grill and ceramic hob. All the usual cooking equipment is provided. Also cutlery, glasses, and china. There is a hard floor, perfect if you are bringing a dog or two. The bedroom has a very comfortable king-size bed and an ensuite bathroom with a full-size bath with shower. Quality towels and bed linen are provided. The outside space is enclosed and has chairs, a table, a fire pit, and a herb garden. Apart from the freedom to roam the many paths and tracks on Bucklebury Common, there are many other diversions; several good pubs with good beer and good food. And many award-winning restaurants. Local towns are Reading and Newbury. Reading has a wide range of attractions and Newbury is famous for its racecourse. Not far from Newbury is Highclere Castle better known as Downton Abbey. The pretty villages of Goring & Streatley with the Thames running between them are well worth a visit as is Hungerford, famous for its antiques, and Marlborough, a quaint market town with many independent shops and home to Polly's Tearoom ranked 15th. in the top UK places to have tea. There are many local National Trust properties. Being close to the M4 and A34 makes London, Windsor, Oxford, and Winchester within easy reach. Tea and coffee are supplied and complimentary milk, eggs (from our chickens), and locally made biscuits on arrival.
