Hurkle Durkle Hut is a unique, custom built cabin nestled in the woods in Preston, Northumberland. This is a secluded and peaceful setting, at the same time as being well located for some of Northumberland's biggest attractions such as Holy Island, Alnwick and Seahouses for The Farne Islands. Unwind in your own private wood fired hydro bubble hot tub, listen to the birdsong all day long, relax and recharge. Intense Relaxation. Closest Pub 1.5 miles in Ellingham, The Pack Horse Inn. The space *2026 UPDATE* The cabin now has its own INDOOR HEATED TOILET/SHOWER room. This is located where you will park your car, just a short walk up the path from the cabin in the woods and through the gate that locks you in. The Cabin Hurkle Durkle Hut is designed to be a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 🛀 We have installed a wood fired hot tub that has LED lights and Hydro Jets for intense relaxation. 🛏🔥Inside the hut is a King Sized bed with luxurious 'DUSK' bedding, a stove to keep you cosy and warm all year round as well as an electric heater, and a small kitchenette with 2 gas burning rings, kettle and toaster. 🚿There's an (enclosed) outdoor shower on the expansive decking area and a composting loo. (Please note that on the rare occasion temperatures drop to sub zero the outdoor shower may be out of use and you will need to use the indoor heater shower room). ☀Sun loungers for lounging on the deck in the sunshine, a firepit for those wildlings who like to while the evening away in front of the flames and a Charcoal BBQ for everyone's favourite summertime dining experience. 💥The hut has electricity for all of your charging needs, however there is no television. We have supplied board games and books instead! 🎲📚 📶 The hut has WIFI so you can easily plan your day while lounging in bed. What's included in your stay? - All linen including towels and dressing gowns. - Fresh local coffee from North Shore Coffee Co in Newcastle, Northumberland Tea, fresh Milk, Sugar and welcome biscuits. - A generous supply of firewood for all fires (more can be purchased on site if needs be). Firelighters and kindling also supplied. - Oil for cooking, Salt & Pepper and some herbs and spices. - Faith in Nature toiletries - Shower gel, Shampoo, Conditioner, Hand Wash and Moisturiser. - All the essentials for cooking on the gas stove. - Iron and mini Ironing Board with a place to hang a few items. - Hairdryer and Mirror. - Board Games and Books. Info on the bunkhouse 🛌 *Hut guests have access to a shared car park with Joiners Shop Bunkhouse guests. *From the car park there is a private entrance, accessed via a secure lockbox, into the woods and to Hurkle Durkle Hut. *The Bunkhouse has its own garden and firepit and is approximately 20-30m in proximity to the hut through woodland. Dogs 🐕 We welcome dogs but ask you to bare a few things in mind... Although you go through a 6ft fence and gate to access the hut area, the area around the hut itself is not enclosed for dogs. So once you enter the woods you are part of the woodland expanse. We ask that you keep dogs under control - there is a road nearby and the fields surrounding the woods have livestock in at various times of the year. As well as this the woods are abundant with wildlife, Deer and various kinds of birds. The hut itself is fully secure for pooches. A bit of background 📖 In 2019 Kirsten moved to Preston to run The Joiners Shop Bunkhouse, and lives on site with partner Ross. During Covid Kirsten decided to build an escape retreat, known as 'the bell tent in the woods', which was a secluded woodland glamping experience beloved by many visitors. Fast forward to 2025 and we decided it was time to upgrade the bell tent experience to something more luxurious and available all year round... Ross, a Joiner by trade, has designed and built the entire A Frame, Hurkle Durkle Hut. We're really excited to start welcoming guests to Hurkle Durkle Hut, we hope you love it as much as we have loved creating it! Bookings are usually a 2 night minimum stay with arrival/departure days being Sunday/Monday, Wednesday, Friday. We occasionally release one night stays.
